This scene is wonderfully written. When you first hear of the girls disappearing and the mechanisms having small malfunctions before the show, you'd think that the only thing that could go wrong is the other box being empty, that's what I was thinking was gonna happen. I remember screaming when I saw the ending for the first time. I was just as horrified as Lyney. Because what had happened was definitely not what I was expecting at all. It was honestly the biggest shock I’ve EVER seen in a game. The scene itself is done so wonderfully. And for it to end so abruptly and tragedy shocked me to the core. Edit: (Also- the trial segments REALLY reminded me of Danganronpa and Ace Attorney. And I LOVE that so much)

For NPCs, it’s completely normal. Kazari, Teppei, Ruu, etc. That does not include lore characters not appearing in the story e.g. Kazuha’s friend, Thoma and Diluc’s dads, etc. Only playable characters stayed alive, probably for fan service.

Hahah spoilers: It’s revealed that the twins are indeed part of the Fatui, because they came from the House of Hearth, the orphanage the Knave runs, so it broke the trust, it ends with the Traveler not necessarily trusting them but also not hating them completely either, considering that the Fatui are known for terrorizing some of the Travelers friends and that the Fatui have been at the Travelers throat, or atleast haven’t been the nices to him, it’s understandable why the traveler wouldn’t trust Lyney or Lynette

Spoilers again HAHAHA: Also adding on people would say that the traveler isn’t being fair because of the fact that they are friends with Childe, they are not, Childe just sees it like that and plus he outright admitted to being a Harbinger, compared to Lyney and Lynette who had hidden that so the traveler was weary because of what motives they had, and also they lied or withheld a bunch of information to the traveler during the trial so it put the traveler in a tight spot against Furina, despite that Lyney expected the traveler to continue defending them even without that crucial information, even so the traveler defended them to the very end even knowing that they were fatui, AND even if in their words it was for everyone to remain square the fact that they were trying everything they could to bail them out is also important.
