Ya know, people are dissing “handle dragging” but since I’ve gone back to Lynn’s teaching of the TGM swinging procedure my game is improving He was kind enough to re-send me a copy of his video Alignment Golf that I had misplaced and didn’t charge me a dime. Great video and a great guy!

Lynn Blake, thank you for this and other great teaching videos you so freely share. I finally found, after 25 years of inconsistent golf, a satisfying path of continual improvement through the study & practice of the alignments (not positions!) as explained at Lynn Blake Golf.

Great explanation! I've been casting the club forever and have still managed some decent rounds of golf, but many more bad ones. I know this is the only way that I can play better and more consistent golf. Thanks Lynn!

@ramboronkim Thanks for your question, rambo. It is a mistake to attempt to delay release until impact. Even with a snap release, hold the 'angle' only through your 'line of sight' to the ball. The club wants to release in the downstroke once it moves to the outside of the arc being described by the hands. If you want to play your best golf . . . let it.

My buddy and I took lessons from Lynn Blake many years ago. While a lot of what he teaches is a bit tough to grasp ala TGM and the like, 10 years later I still use a lot of what he taught me. And if you watch Lynn hit a golf ball, it’s the essence of effortless power

Golf ultimate secret. It is not the so called trigger finger. Always start your downswing applying pressure against the club’s grip with the pads of your trail hand little finger. That is it! « Golf’s Downswing Magical Trail Little Finger » It Works for a million reasons Cheers 😃👍⛳️🥂

@brown547 Brown, Lag pressure is necessary for all strokes and is independent of any wrist swivel action. Further, it is normally thought of as a Downstroke phenomenon and is therefore not active during the Backstroke. The pressure you reference in your last sentence seems to be an applied grip pressure, not clubhead lag pressure.
@lynnblakegolf13 жыл бұрын
@brown547 Thanks for the question, Brown. In Pivot Strokes, the Clubhead Lag and its Pressure Point Pressures are loaded during the Start Down. There is actually a 'reverse' loading during the Start Up and Backstroke, but that's another story.

The shaft is actually still bent back right before impact.. it's the camera that gives the illsuion that the shaft unloaded prior to impact. Better camera technology shows this
@jackflash8756 Жыл бұрын
Actually , the 5 iron to Driver shafts , for full swings, are really in forward bend before impact . Phantom cameras that operate over 50,000 Hz clearly shows it. Camera distortion effects are well know but it's best to look at 3D systems like GEARS (which have sensors attached to the shaft) and they also show forward shaft bend too. It's weird because it seems non-intuitive but true.

Fascinating. What a great idea to dramatically highlight this important concept. Maybe this is why Lee Trevino said he 'pushed' the club.
@sonicdeviant8 жыл бұрын
I thought the forward bend of the shaft coming into impact was just an illusion due to the physics of how a typical camera works (i.e., how it samples the image from top to bottom).
@jteddy11 Жыл бұрын
You are correct, it has something to do with the optics and the shutter, they say Hogan maintained lag pressure or shaft bend thru impact
@TeddyCavachon2 жыл бұрын
Shaft loading at the top of the backswing is create by dropping the hands while the shoulders are still turning back pulling the club the other direction. Since it is the momentum of the club head mass pulling hands and shoulders around because lead shoulder is pinned across chest the easiest way to drop the hands is via side bending of the spine which can be executed consciously independent of the involuntary pull of the club/hands/arm/shoulders up and forward by momentum until the rotary range of motion in the spine is reached. Once bent by side bending, which tucks in the trail arm and creates a reflexive lateral movement of pelvis toward target the hands need to keep accelerating because if they slow down the mass of the club head catches up and the bend come out of the shaft. The technique for accomplishing that is to progressively increase the amount of side bending of the spine throughout the downswing to the moment of impact. If one takes a club up to the top of backswing position in the golf swing and the only action taken is to side bend the spine the effect on the path and club head can be observed; the side bending of the spine causes the hands to swing down and forward maintaining the bend in the shaft. In the actual swing the side bending acceleration of the hands occurs simultaneously with the firing of the hips which pulls the shoulders lagging about 45° behind the angle of the pelvis. If the golfer keeps their back heel on the ground the rotation of the hips will be arrested by the resistance from the front foot when the hips reach about 45° open to the target. At that point the golf swing becomes like a car wreck and the lead arm which has been pinned tight across the chest in the backswing and downswing up to this point flies off the chest like an unbelted passenger in the car flies off the seat through the windshield. The strategy of connecting arm to chest at address creates the fulcrum for that “catapult” action of the lead arm off the chest. The firing of the lead arm of the chest starts to occur as the shoulders come back parallel with the swing line which occurs just as the hips reach their 45° open limit IF the golfer keeps their back foot down. At that point the hands have reached the bottom of their swing arc and the club head, lagging on the still bowed back shaft, reaches the point where it can whip freely around the hands and it does, which is what causes the backwards bend to come out of the shaft and bend forward. It will bend forwards with enough force to snap the head off the club of the shaft if the golfer does not raise the heel of the back foot to free the hip/shoulder/hands to keep moving rotationally. I’ve snapped heads off a dozen clubs that way experimenting with this cause and effect. Golf instruction books have called the limitation of hip rotation by delaying the lifting of the foot “hitting the wall” or “breaking through the wall” if the back foot is lifted off the ground just as the resistance to the hips turning past 45° open is felt. Most golfers never feel it because the brain will reflexively lift the foot upon encountering the resistance to keep the body in balance by releasing the unbalancing force. I suggest watching Hogan’s swing frame-by-frame paying attention to the movement of his hands and his back foot. As his hands slow down as the result of the hips meeting resistance and the club head starts to whip the club around them and bend the shaft forward he lifts his back foot in a very controlled way which allows the hips/shoulders/hands to keep rotating around his body “catching up” to the club head and taking the forward bend out of the shaft by the time the club head reaches the ball. His famous “waggle” action of his wrists was part of that sequence. It was by allowing his hands to ‘waggle down’ with a snapping action through impact like the radial - to - unlar deviation wrist action when cracking a whip which took the forward bend out of the shaft. When I incorporated the moves of coordinating the lifting of my back foot and snapping my hands down into full ulnar deviation through impact I started hitting more powerful, straighter shot consistently without snapping the heads off the clubs.

@GolfLagTips I do this myself, GolfLag, walking & trailing the club behind me in my right hand only, dragging the club behind me. Then, I add an 'aha!' moment: I stop walking and comment that the club also stops. I turn east (assuming I was walking north) -- in other words, toward a 'target' line -- and then use my pivot motion and the rotation of its last component (the right shoulder) to continue the dragging of the right arm and club. Message: In golf, centered rotation creates drag/delay.

Yes. More than anything else, this IS the secret of golf. I find the Orange Whip trainer to be a great tool for this. You can clearly feel the lag pressure in your hands with it. Maintain it through impact, which is the opposite of what the flipper does instinctually.

@aonachmor There definitely will be more video, aonachmor, but not necessarily in an Alignment Golf "2" format. The mop example is intuitive because of the weight of the mop head but how you translate that to a light club has me bewildered especially on the downswing. How do you put that kind of pressure on a lightweight club?
@bogushavis13 жыл бұрын
@RSGMotion At impact, professional golfers only have about 50% of their weight on their feet. E.g. if a golfer weighs 200 pounds, he has only 50 pounds on the front foot and 50 pounds on the back foot. So, in a sense, they are "PULLING" themselves off the ground by pulling the club forcefully downward. So, I think it is possible for a golfer to exert downward pull on the club up to the limits of the golfers body weight and his physical strength.

@lynnblakegolf Ok, thanks for your reply, I'm a hitter in that I dont use a start up swivel action in the back swing. On the downswing I'm pushing, or driving the shaft, down and out on a straight line, so should I maintain the pressure at the back of the shaft from the take away to the top and backdown through lowpoint since the shaft doesn't really turn due to no swivel action? I usually just apply the pressure once I set the clubshaft on my right forearm plane to keep the right wrist angle.

@Tigersmundo I made several references to the pivot in my video. Things like "lower body leads, upper body lags", "use the core muscles of the body", things like that. I ve seen many secrets in youtube and all of them do not help me get better. Golf playing for me (in the thinking) is to move the ball to the target at any path you decide. That's it. The rest will be done automatically by your body. In the 90s, the Pro will teach you to imagine your ball and the way you will swing it. Now they forgot this important step and taugh the step by step swing. I suffered my self for 3 years and finally got into the right track. Remember a dead watch will tell you the time at least twice a day. But a wrong watch will never tell you the correct time forever.
