I am team pen and paper. Let me tell you, after staring at the computer for 8 hours a day for my day job, I have a hard time wanting to sit and write at the computer. So instead I write for an hour or two in my notebook. It's now the only way I can write everyday. Transcribing then becomes the second draft. As a genre-bending literary writer, I feel the anxiety over marketability. Sometimes I wish I could just write something firmly in a category. LOL. Ah well, I write what interests me and deal with the rest after the story is done.

I also switched to pen and paper because you can't edit while writing and also the transcribing thing

💯 Yep, same for me! After 7, 8h working on the computer, I rely on my notebooks for writing 😊

I use the iOS notes app and the onscreen keyboard, which is PROBABLY not good. But hey, I get the writing itch out and about, and my hand writing is slightly less then average.

@@StanleytheCat-v8z it doesn't really matter where someone writes. If you're getting any actual writing in thats an amazing thing

my screen time is almost at double digits it's embarrassing 😭 really great idea & will probably try this challenge one of these days! sooo true about pen + paper for brainstorming; it's also an effective method for me! making mind maps online for my worldbuilding tend to go sideways because i lose my train of thought trying to make it aesthetically pleasing lol. with notebooks, it's easier to just say things recreationally

Omg 😭 I've definitely hit double digits before so I feel u lol. I agree about notebooks!! Tbh, I like to keep my writing and brainstorming as simple as possible so I can really focus on the creativity, but I also enjoy organizing things after the fact bc my notes get so chaotic lol

Omg this is really exciting, I’ve never been this early to a lynn d jung video before!! You have to let me know where I can read your military dystopian short story when you’re done lol , and so happy for you that you’re excited about crypts again. I admire you so much for the determination and discipline it must’ve taken to complete these writing challenges such as this one and the 24 hr one 🙌

I will definitely let you know if/when that story is available to read!! Thank you so much for watching, I hope to do more challenge videos soon

This is a wonderful video and great concept! I absolutely love Project Crypts because I’m such a huge sucker for gothic fantasy! I hope you develop it! But your literary speculative idea also sounds fascinating! As someone who is still querying and also writes short fiction, I’m definitely in a place where, even though I know what my next novel is (I have 2 chapters written), it’s just been hard to really hunker down into drafting mode. And I know this is the project I want to work on! Also, if you ever need a beta for the horror by the sea short story, I’m SO intrigued and would absolutely LOVE to read! 👀😍

Thank you so much Lara! I ultimately decided to focus on Project Crypts for now because I want to develop the lit fab novel a bit further, but it's so good to know that both ideas have appeal! I hope querying continues to go well for you, and I'll touch base if I keep going with that story-I've abandoned it again for now lol

could you make a video on how to write a query letter and what not to add? i would really appreciate it!!

I'm having my book released later this year. It’s a story about a retired Kung Fu teacher who owes money to the Fire Claw Gang that he borrowed to pay off someone. He has to come up with a way to pay them back. If he fails to do so, his life is on the line. There's so much more to this, but I’d rather not give out too much.

If the book does well i want to release a sequel

Oh my god I didn't know you have adhd. No wonder I like your videos so much, I also have adhd. Currently struggling to find the motivation to write - I'm just out of the habit with my full time job. In past days I've been itching to write but I'm also nervous to dive back in to the novel I've been working on for the past 3-odd years on and off.
@kelleyiswriting2 ай бұрын
I always pen and paper for brainstorming too, it's also the best method for me when I'm stuck. And I feel the exact same about my short stories.... something in the air... HAHA like the story is already what I want so I wouldn't know what feedback I would like? I think it's just a matter of finding a home :) loved this video!

Ooh yes, something about the tactile and focused nature of pen and paper... amazing. Also the short story thing is too real, I'm glad it's not just me!
