Governers house may be unnecessary because they can live at their homes. But other public amenities are necessary. 2 acres of land for one persons house surely? Where those wazungus live, there is no such kind of opulence lifestyle at the expense of common man. Hope with time hope we will hear more from both sides. Anyway most public offices are very corrupt in Kenya. I remember three years ago I wanted to do some building work in Kariobangi. Nothing could be done until I met area chief and sub chief and give them their hongo. Otherwise they told me all building materials will be stollen. I wanted to give it via mpesa and then snitch on them but they insisted I pay them via mzee wa nyumba kumi. I really told that kijana mzee wa number kumi off.. After that, they called Council znd NEMA officials on me. I had met all requirements but they wanted 500k as well. I sent someone else to bargain and said they must talk to me. My representatives called me and I didn't know they were listening. I was soo shocked and angry at the amount of money they wanted. I told him to look for a buyer and sell the land because that was crazy amount of money. I also said that I was suffering from Corona and I would love to meet them and pass it on to them before I die. When they heard that they said I give them whatever I could afford at that time but watarudi baadaye. Corruption in Kenya is unofficially official wherever you go. It's hard to do as the bible teahes where honesty is concerned. Mungu tusaidie

This is another way of frustrating the developer until they cave in. @GSM888 Please report the matter to the Ombudsman office (Office of administrative justice). The Commission investigates matters pertaining to MALADMINISTRATION (Improper Administration) in the Public Sector (Government departments). Maladminstration inckudes complaints about delay, abuse of power, unfair treatment, manifest injustice and even discourtesy (rudeness). Also, The Commission has the mandate of overseeing and enforcing the implementation of the Access To Information Act, 2016. The Ombudsman office in Kenya was set up in 2011. Its origins lie in Sweden, and it has been replicated in other parts of the world. Sadly, very few Kenyans know about the Ombudsman office, even worse there are few smarty pants who act as brokers (charge people to forward their complaints to the Ombudsman). Write to the Ombudsman (they take submissions ONLINE) and tell them of the difficulties (delay) you have experienced in regards to your ID application from the Ruiru office. They will write to that department asking for answers. Most bureaucrats in Kenya get away with murder because Kenyans never WRITE in to complain. But the moment a letter arrives, things begin to move because said bureaucrat doesn't want their personnel file sullied. Instead of complaining amongst ourselves, Kenyans must complain using the right channels!! Write in and then write back and let us know how it goes!!

I’m was foreign investor here. I pulled out after all the harassment and corruption from the county level. It’s obscene how difficult it is to try and negotiate the government graft here.

@@lucykamande8465 ya smaller scale but 28 people lost their jobs. It’s a shame these officials don’t actually care about community impact of their corruption. A Dutch friend of mine also packed up his company and left a few months ago. He employed around 40 people. Everyday is another official threatening and demanding bribes. It’s horrible to run a business here.

This issue is widespread across the country, but these investors have brought the corruption to light. In Nairobi, for instance, the Governor receives entire floors of high-rise apartments in Kilimani as a bribe to approve Chinese construction projects. What kind of country is this? Trying to invest in Kenya as I have, means facing bribes at every level for approvals. It's easier to invest in other countries like Rwanda and Tanzania. Meanwhile, Kenyans complain about job shortages, yet opportunities are being stolen by greedy and corrupt politicians who deceive at every turn.

I SALUTE GEN Z IN KENYA FOR LOVING THEIR COUNTRY AND THEY HAVE BECOME "KENYA WATCHDOGS" IN EVERY SECTION..Jeremiah 22:17 says “But your eyes and your heart are set only on dishonest gain, on shedding innocent blood and on oppression and extortion.”This verse condemns leaders whose hearts and minds are fixated on corruption, violence, and oppression. Such leaders are consumed by greed and disregard for human life.

Corruption brings even mighty empires down. Worse than terrorism for it stifles economic progress. Kimani matangi should know the time of playing tribal or race is long gone. It’s a private city what is this ravenous governor yapping about? Is there a law that states that kiambu governor house should be in Tatu city?

Lynn: doing business cuts across the global if a nation wants to remain relevant and competitive. We cannot isolate ourselves from foreign investors and trade among ourselves. The problem is corrupt political leaders who enrich themselves at the expense of the electorate. Granted the 10% is lawful but governor's resident manenos is corruption and extortion. I am thinking said acreage should be a school, a museum, a library, an athletic training center, a local dispensary/clinic...etc. Something that the community can benefit from.

Kenya's moment of God's glory. The beginning of a great revival I may say. I have always prayed for God to have mercy on kenya by redeeming the country from eminent collapse. I am not a prophet Lynn, but I somehow see God's hand in the unravelling events unfolding in quick succession. Kenya was sliding to oblivion and it seemed no one or hope was left but God in his kind mercy, pulled a sudden angel from the very unlikely angle-Genz youth and as they say the rest is history. For future, anyone ascribing to contest for leadership, be either politics or civil service (technocrats) must think twice before engaging otherwise "CORRUPTION" skunk is history in my view. The likes of Ichungwah and his clique might be serving their last term. GenZ oiyeeeeh........ 100% support 👏👏🙌

It always makes me furious that Kenyan politicians want to benefit personally from investment in their country. Which creates jobs, income and prosperity. I even have to pay to stay in Kenya and spend my money here which also supports local business. And dont even waste time defending corrupt Kenyans. Because we all know how they “conduct business” And that is why my European country has warned us NOT to invest in Kenya for decades

Ata Monaco is so expensive such that workers have to commute in n out of the nation. That race card thing too crude. Make the environment conducive for any n all investors. They are already buying out our gvt bonds. 🤷🏿♂️ The relationship is a win win. Our youth get jobs n the investors get a return of their capital.

Same happened to certain investors from America and Britain who wanted to set up a factory at Oaklands Ruiru. I was the engineer in charge of designs of the warehouse for the factory. Kiambu county frustrated us in drawings approvals. The Americans were frustrated, 4 months in after drawing submission,no approvals yet. The Americans refused to give bribe and threatened to stop the project. My boss, the Indians who understand the ways of Kenyan system gave out the bribe and approvals were issued. I was shocked how a factory to benefit local people was being frustrated by the local people. I gave up on Africans.
