I'm 34, I've fought depression since I was 5 after I was raped. I started therapy when I was 23. Mental health is something Kenyans should be more educated about. When I was in Kenya I was referred to as lazy and ungrateful and a brat. As soon as I moved to Canada I didn't even take a month to be admitted in a mental hospital. My suicide attempts in Kenya I was called a brat.

Hey Lynn, I love your work. I wish children and parents would easily express their love for each other. But in african context and depending on how we grewup, at times its not that easy as a kid to tell your Mom/Dad that your love them. This did cost me peace big time! On her death bed i felt this urge to tell Mom that i love her so much but words could hardly come out of my lips. Not that I didn't lover her but while growing up its wasn't custom to express my love for her face to face. That night Mom went to be with the Lord and upto date have never forgiven myself for not gathering enough courage and let her know how much I loved her.

Lynn, I've lost friends, family members have distanced themselves from me. The ones that once told me they love me "my once so called girlfriends" and will never leave me have all betrayed my trust. My life has been a plethora of disappointments after disappointments because i expect alot from people who are not deserving. I've lost weight and people joke about it because of all my family members, am the underweight one. But all in all, am on my way to recovery. Am not giving up hope. Its all i got. After watching this episode and Maliks testamentary. I now believe am gonna be okay. Lynn, you are helping alot of people by what you are doing. Keep the good work. 🙏🙏

I went through the same thing and I can say that phase is no joke . I literally didn't understand myself and the fact that I could not explain what was going on with me was frustrating. I have seen this in my own. It’s anxiety, it’s that shift from being a child to an adult. It’s making sense of this world and where you stand in it.
