Great images which vividly capture Lynton's period charm and hilly aspect, specially your marvellous shots of the cliff railway. Thank you.

Hi Paul, What a lovely place Lynton is, thanks for taking me there!! Just had a quick peak in my AA book which tells me that it became a refuge for Shelley and his 16 year old wife, before becoming “discovered” ! It also tells of the flash flood in 1952 which claimed 34 lives, it was estimated that 90 million gallons fell on Exmoor that night. You got a great angle on the funicular railway it looked horizontal to start. A rise of 500’ and all powered by water. Just looked up George Newnes, well worth a look. Amongst many notably entries he published The Strand magazine famous for printing the Sherlock Holmes stories in serial format. I really enjoyed the combination of photos and music, really well put together, well done!! Have a great weekend!!

Hi David! Yes, George Newnes was certainly an interesting philanthropist. His publishing output was wide ranging from (as you said) Sherlock Holmes to 'Titbits' magazine and all points in between. He did much for the town, but he wasn't universally popular, as what he did brought the late Victorian visitors to the town - visitors still flock there! Hope you are having a great weekend too! Take care, Paul.

This was a superb watch Paul! I used to live in Lynton for 6 years and some of the things you captured here I have never noticed before. You have such an eye for detail and are so observant. I will go back to Lynton with my eyes open more to see these things. You really captured the atmosphere and beauty of the place in your photos and the music and photographic transitions were really impressive. Clearly a lot of hard work must have gone into putting this video together. Thank you for sharing your enjoyment with us.

Thank you Louise ☺️ it was a lot of work, but it was very enjoyable in creating it. I really love Lynton, and it must have been good living in the area when you did so. I do hope to go back to film Lynmouth, and the Valley of the Rocks walk in the near future. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍 Paul.

Thank you Paul, great photos and reminder of happy visits and rides on the railway. On our last visit we walked up through the river valley from Lynmouth.😊😊😊

Hi Diane - yes, I hope to return to do the walk to Watersmeet from Lynmouth. Louise has done it a few months ago on her channel (South West Sundays). I also want to explore the Valley of the Rocks area. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Take care, Paul.

I think Louise of South West Sundays said it all and I echo her comments. It’s obvious that a lot of thought and technical know- how went into this presentation & the music choice was well thought out too. Thank you.

I was excited to see that you did a video of Lynton! Lovely job with the photos of this beautiful place! A few years ago when Ian suggested that we spend some time in Lynton and Lynmouth I had absolutely no idea what to expect. But I was gobsmacked by its beauty! Hiking along the south west coast path amongst the goats on the way to Valley of the Gods was very memorable! As was the cliff railway, which was adjacent to the hotel where we were staying. I look forward to returning one day! Thanks for sharing your trip with us! Cheers! X Dara

Thanks Simon. Glad you enjoyed the photos. Sorry you didn't like the luma wipe transitions. I was trying to blend the theme of colours in the painted mural (which sang Exmoor to me) next to the antique shop, and reflect it into the shop window. Thanks again, take care, Paul.

What great photos of Lynton, there are super views from the churchyard. The funicular would have helped to make the place such a draw.

Thank you Faith. Glad you enjoyed my photos of Lynton. I really enjoyed my day in the area before I headed home, but I do hope to be back before not too long to cover Lynmouth and the Valley of the Rocks as a walking type video. It certainly is an impressive funicular railway - no power other than water! Take care, Paul.
