My dad passed away when was very little. Lynyrd Skynyrd was his favorite band so when ever I hear this song I think of him. At first I'm sad and tear up, then after listening to it I feel like he would be "speaking" through the lyrics in a sense. That it was was his time to go and that I shouldn't dwell on his passing. These kinds of songs make me tear up to be honest. I was born in 2000 but wish I was born in '69. I feel like the 80's were such a better time, especially where I live, in the south. Everyone was more friendly, political correctness wasnt a huge fucking deal, cops werent assholes, and you could ride your bike to your friends house 3 miles away in the dark without getting mugged and/or shot.
