How wonderful to hear their voices again! Ronnie and the guys were mostly mellow and were very polite, thoughtful, Southern gentlemen. I got to meet them when they came in to Capricorn Studio, where I worked, to record Gimme Back My Bullets. I expected unruly, rowdy, headache sort of guys. Not in the least. Met Dean Kilpatrick and Tom Dowd too. It was a pleasure! They had impeccable manners and were alot of fun. They are in my heart ♥️ forever.

Beautifully stated Miss Jolene. While LS (particularly RVZ) certainly had a reputation for fighting in bars & trashing hotel rooms, most of that was nonsense, put out by Record company PR guys as a publicity ploy to generate more interest & sell more Albums. However, being very familiar with a real Southern rasing, a real Southern Man simply doesn't act a rowdy fool around Women folk, unless that Man is hankering for a serious ear yank'n from his Momma! 😉 Working where you worked & at the time you worked there, must have been very exciting for you. Yes absolutely terrible pilots for sure. They did pay for it with their lives, but they also took 6 people with them, plus permanently altered a lot of people's lives. Thanks so much for sharing this! Really appreciate the chance to hear this interview. Skynyrd played 3 nights at the Rainbow Theatre in London, Jan 27, 28 & 29, 1977. So putting all the clues in this recording together w/ that fact means this interview was conducted on Jan 26, 1977, on Capital London (formerly Capital Radio) for anyone who might have wondered about those details. Also, they had just played 5 shows in Japan the third week in Jan before heading to the UK, w/ the final Tokyo show occurring on Jan 21, 1977. I have no idea if the band went back to the US before heading out for the 22 dates they were to play in the UK, but either straight from Japan to Britain or from Japan-to-USA-to-Britain, these guys had plenty of reasons to be jet-lagged, stoned, or most likely a heavy combination of both!

That and people from the South are generally more laid back than other parts of the country. I worked at Capricorn Studio, so in Georgis i think the hot summer months kind of make a person adapt to the weather with a slower pace. The benefit is less stress. People carried that into their daily lives the rest of the year. You find time to smell the roses. Enjoy the little things in life that alot of people miss in the rush and hurry elsewhere.
