The artistry! The choice of material (& what it says); the mercurial moods; the sheer technique; the commentary. No one like Lypsinka.

A spectacular piece of perforando art. As someone else already said, Lypsinka truly has no peer. She elevates the gente in a way that is breathtaking to watch. I particularly love the sheer expressiveness of her gorgeous arms. They are her most dramatic supporting cast.

It's fascinating to hear the original audio track after having watched it countless times in "Wigstock: the Movie." How those filmmakers managed to write and record alternative audio that would avoid a copyright issue will never receive the credit it deserves.

Someone needs to go through and list everything she sampled in this performance! I obviously know the Mommie Dearest parts and the small bit from Chinatown, and I know the song is But Alive from Applause. But I have been trying to figure out everything else with my googling yielding little to no results! I feel like such an uncultured gay for recognizing almost none of it! If anyone can give me origins for ANY of the other sound clips, that would be awesome!

Men like John Epperson and Charles Busch lifted drag from merely Saturday night camp at the local gay bar into intelligent comedic performance art. I think of the pretty, effeminate boys I've seen in hooker shoes and MAC make-up, lyp syncing poorly to whatever pop vixen of that moment and I yearn for a Lypsinka. People will mention Lady Bunny, but I'm not a huge fan of conventional stand-up comedy. For me, Lypsinka, Varla Jean Merman, Charles Busch and the like, are consumate performers.

I was lucky enough to have seen her live back in late 1990's as well. I've look all over for her on the INTERNET and like an idiot I was separating her first name into two. I've never been good at math or spelling. Anyway, I've founly finded her. What luck.

In the pre-computer days, audio editing was done manually by either a quick hand at the controls when creating a master tape, or by physically cutting and splicing tapes. Imagine how much more work and inspiration it took.
