the thing is I have been watching your videos since a very long time and I agree with most of what you say the term “lyrical genius” is a broad one some rapper likes to make their lyrics more complex with multi syllable rhymes and it has its own beauty while other i.e Talha anjum can communicate the same depth of those complex lyrics in a single line that’s as lyrically genius as those other complex patterns and trust me brother there is not a single rapper in dhh that us fans related to the most cause he knows how to deliver his emotions into the hearts of the Audience
@Gaming-point2986 күн бұрын
I mean he is a lyrical genius to you he might not look like one because 1 the meaning and impact get lost in translation 2 the culture is different so somethings that hits us in his writing doesn't hit you and you have to also consider the fact that he is one of the people who started rap in this country he is the most streamed artist in a country that majority listen to songs like bolywood and all that but still he's the most streamed artist he is also one of the most respected and idolized artist in DHH

I get what you mean by lyrical genius and Anjum not being one. You are talking about the specific technicalities, how 'dense' the rhymes and how much is there to unpack. Relative to the names you took, Anjum's lyrics are simpler, but i think its about the poetic nature of them that people might make that an aspect of being a lyrical genius and Anjum being one. It's the same kind of difference i find b/w calm and encore, calm being more 'lyrical' and encore being more 'poetic'.

I feel like you started listening to him just recently he has some of the most brutal verses in DHH his cadence, clarity and above all syllables and references are second to none
@navu5456 күн бұрын
@@AmeerHamza-wq3ms No, it's been quite a while actually since i started listening to them, around the time when Yunus dropped Black panther. And I know how brutal Anjum can go, 100 bars being one example of that, that's why i compared him relatively. Just an example could be like so many times we've heard Yunus do triple time but i don't think Anjum has done that. Another example could be how dense Kr$na writes, for example i haven't heard a bar setup like the 'Balakot bar' from Machayenge 4, from Anjum. Which isn't to take away the lyrical prowess, it's just about the style of writing being different. Some of the best bars in DHH i like are from anjum despite that, 'Bars me aag, november me bhi dedu Mayweather', 'Mai 10 saal baad bhi reh sakta relevant, tu 20 saal piche mujhse, do the maths, bitch i am done', 'Dafnau insano ko aur karu inki qabron pe gardening', 'Tu khada na hota jo time pe, keh deta ki tu ek lund hai'. Songs like 9MM are packed with references. But again relative to Yunus, Kr$na, or Calm, the lyrics are relatively simple.

I get from your perspective why you don’t put him in the same category as Krishna, Raftaar’s and Brotha V since there are not a lot of double entendre and such in his songs. But what he does have is poetry which clearly gets lost in translation and you aren’t able to get it which he is really best at! Which over these years he’s become best at and no one even comes close to him let alone Raftaar, Krishna and others. So you can see why he’s taken over 2024.

Look brother Larry. Let's take example of Shakespeare he was a great poet for west. Unless people don't understand the language & its essence, the outcome will never be the same. As the people who reads shakespeare in the west & people who are from other parts of the world, it will be totally different. Same here, the essence of urdu can't be portrayed in English translations.

telling a story is not "lyrical genius". He is a very good story teller for sure. but in terms of technicalities, compound rhyming and multi syllabics and word plays. However, Anjum is still very good and one of the best rappers in DHH
@terminator97356 күн бұрын
@@ParkedUpAnywhere lyricism is not just about compound or multisyllabic rhyming.It's also about what is being said, and how it's said. He uses a lot of poetic devices and metaphors which you fail to understand. Also, Anjum does some crazy rhymes as well. Of course, he's not a flow-oriented rapper, so his main focus is on what's being said rather than just filling bars with irrelevant rhymes and references. Urdu rap is more about poetry. Also, he follows the structure of Urdu poetry and the rhyming technique called the "qafiya" and radif" which you would never understand, unless you learn the language. Also, Anjum does a lot of wordplays lol. They often get lost in the translation. He has given some of the most memorable wordplays and punchlines in the history of DHH. Even his adversaries have praised him specifically for his writing and wordplays. It's just that you don't understand the language, but you still have to give an opinion

The people you just mentioned most of the time use Double entendre, references, complex rhyme schemes etc. i guess thats why you are saying this but that doesn't make them better than anjum bcz he's more of a poetic rapper (and he's the best one in the Dhh to do it) and you being a man who doesn't know the language can't relate to that so even if you are entitled to your own opinion you can't just say that he's not on the Level of raftar, krsna etc bcz it's a bit demeaning to say to an artist whose art you don't understand bcz of the language barrier.

@@ParkedUpAnywhere If you are asking me to give you examples of Anjum being poetic that means you haven't listened to him that much to give you the right to pass judgment on his art. And i get it it's not your fault bcz he is hugely inspired by great urdu poets so he doesn't write traditional rap lyrics with lots of wordplays and technicalities. He writes simple but deep meanings poetic lines that gets lost in English translation when you hear them. For example, Downers at dusk song from the open letter that you didn't like. (Peace)
