Clarifications. 1. "United We Stand Strong" is the motto in the coat of arms of Bulgaria. 2. The lion is the symbol of Bulgaria. 3. 3. In the valley of Doiran, a series of battles took place in which the Bulgarians were outnumbered 1:7, and at some points 1:11, against the combined forces of Britain, France, Greece and Serbia. The Bulgarians withstood all the attacks with few losses mainly because of the concrete fortifications devised by General Vladimir Vazov. When the soldiers dug, they cursed him. But after the war, their wives brought gifts to the general, where he saved their men. Vazov is still studied today in military schools around the world.

The things there are not connecting are the knowledge of history! Every song that Sabaton is based on real facts of history and one of those history moments is the battle of Doiran during WW 1. You can check the statistics of what happened then.

The Valley Of Death is in my top 10 Sabaton songs or just barely misses the list. It's a lot of fun to sing along with.

This is one of the songs from the album that needed to grow on me, but I quite like it now. It has one of the best guitar solos in Sabaton songs though, played by Chris Rörland

The song growing overtime and the tempo + lyric clearly made easy to remember for Live performence with the crowd at Bulgari last year.

That line should've said "...They/Their defend under Vazov's command..." instead "they advance" and it should've been much more clear :)

This is my personal fav from this album but i do see why some people dont like it as much.

It grows on you. I liked only the solo part at 1st but now it's highlight of the album.

Battle of Doiran during 1917 aka "The little Verdun" is the biggest military disaster in the history of the British Empire and the biggest glory in Bulgarian history! In the chaos of the Macedonian Front the 9th Pleven Division (~17 000 strong) sudenly find themselfs in front of 7 British armies (~400 000 strong)! They were send to defend Sector "Boris" wich were near the Lake Doiran. The commander was Colonel Vladimir Vazov who will leter become General after what he and his boys will achieve in that hell position! The British start the first 4 attacks without any preparations and they suffer brutal loses but our High Command and Vazov himself saw that the position is too weak and General Vladimir Vazov ordered intense fortifying work during late 1916 and early 1917 that the British didn't expect! The next 4 attacks was coupled with massive artilery bombardment but they all failed despite British took the front trench system but the Bulgarians send all reserves in insane and bloody bayonete counter attack and took it back! The last 4 attack come after 7 days and nights of bombardment uncluding the first gas attack on this Front! The whole position "Boris" were devastated, the wires cutted but the bunkers intact and when the last 8 British divisions come to the first trench again General Vazov ordered an full suprise counter attack face to face hand to hand melee that will become the most epic and glorious win in our history! In the 1930's on a Veteran meeting in London General Vazov were welcomed at the train station by Lord Mill, Generals, Officers, Members of the Parliament and the Royal Family with the words "Down the Battle Flags! The winner of Doiran is walking through!" This is the only time in the history of the British Empire where the British downed their battle flags to anyone!!! Later Lord Mill will say to General Vazov that he respected the Bulgarian Soldiers because they fought with bravery and were true gentelmens like the Brits and will finish quote "Our boys ask me and my officers on arrival in Greece what to expect up there and we told then directly - You are in Greece! In front of you is Bulgaria that we have orders to invade but between are the enemy positions! Welcome to Bulgaria Chaps! Welcome in front of the Gates of Hell"!!! Survived British major sayed quote: "Bulgarian officers do not hide behind like ours but fight in front shoulder to shoulder with their soldiers! and continue with letter to the Allied High Command quote:" Learn to die like the Bulgarians and only then you will defeat them!!!" General Vazov tactics are studied till today in every military universities around the World and they were used by the Vietnanese against USA!

As bulgarian, let me tell you a bit of actual history. General Vazov came on the second year at Doiran. At his command the defence was really improved. The army was dugged in deeper than current metro lines. No artillery could do anything. Then the British tried some nasty tricks as poison gas attacks, but the Bulgarians was already prepared wish gas masks. The all campaine was around 4 years. At the and, the bulgarians took their flamethrowers and incinerate 20 000 greek soldiers, after the brithish and french troops had too much losses. Tho that war was a loss for us.

I really like this song for some reason and it’s somewhere in the middle of my fav and least fav songs from the new album. I think the lyrics work really well and I really connect with the history behind them.

I agree, it's one of those songs where there is nothing wrong with it but it just doesn't grab me, either musically or lyrically. The history episode is good though. Sabaton released a brand new song last Friday called 'The First Soldier'. It's the 1st Sabaton song to have the music written by Tommy on his own. Lyrics by Joakim and Par. No history episode for it yet though.

the Image of the British Lion, symbol of the Empire, with all the Cavalry Swords in his back, is some kind of Omen for the things that will happen in the next 4-5 decades after WWI

the lion is also the symbol of Bulgaria, showing it had been attacked four times, but still standing firm and holding their flag.

Not on the top of my list from this album but it will grow on you. It doesn't have the anthem structure or rhyme but for me it is something in the music build that didn't make me hooked on it but I like it.

Wasn't able to watch this yesterday, so here I am a bit late, sorry about that! 😂 I am not a great fan of this one either, though the story is great and the solo is really good too...well I admit that I sometimes skip this track on the CD.🤔😔

Most Sabaton songs are written in the style of anthems...this one doesn't follow that formula quite as successfully as others, just my opinion...

This song is just a “present” for the Bulgarians, because one of the best shows in sabaton is actually in Bulgaria. They have shows here since mid 2000s and for 15 years they didn’t make a single reference to Bulgaria. So this song is written for them, not for all to enjoy. This is my opinion.

@Thomas Shelby But I do rather like the song! And I'm not Bulgarian. But I still feel proud for them. I'm a US.Marine Corp widow, so I really appreciate that Sabaton honors all countries...bc my late husband would definitely be a huge fan of Sabaton... no matter what story they tell in song!
