Just got a 2018 Tacoma TRD off-road. Gives me the confidence for sure.

Finished Lytle Creek as well with my SR5 2WD w/rear locks. Definitely doable, sketchy, but doable! Had doubt from Jeep drivers about me being needed to be winched up at the last leg to the camping ground lol. They were speechless when they saw me pull up.

Did you install rear locks? Or was it an option when purchasing?

SKILLS and Locker are key. Theres a reason Toyota sells a ton of 2wd Trd Or,s . They fn work. ..Fine work brother and keep what you have its fn perfect... 4x4 for crazy deep mud, Boulder Climbing , Hells Gate in Moab and Snowed in States. .

Great videos man! I have a 2wd Tacoma too! It does great for what I need it to do and when the time is right I'll go grab a 4x4 but I'm not too worried about it. It's pretty funny to me actually when I hear other Tacoma owners talk down to one another for their purchase. We have these sick 30k plus trucks, some people don't have the means to have cool stuff, and here they are complaining about something that isn't even their business. Such an ego thing. Anyways if you're ever in the San Jose, Girloy area I'd love to wheel with you!

Except it is my business when you take a 2X4 on a 4X4 trail and block access for everyone behind you! Don't go cheap and expect to play with the adults.
@TheStokedLife2 жыл бұрын
@@stacksmasherthe weird thing is that I was in the middle of our group and did not block access at all. No delays here! Thanks for watching! 🤙

Do you drive in D or use low gears as need on inclines?
@TheStokedLife3 жыл бұрын
I do switch to S-mode and go into lower gears on steep technical sections.

@@TheStokedLife Why in the world would you pour so much $$$ into a 2wd rig?! Genuinely interested, not being sarcastic.
@TheStokedLife3 жыл бұрын
@@user-ej1bq4bq2w I don’t know… because I enjoy it? When I bought this truck, all I knew is that I wanted a Tacoma. I had absolutely NO CLUE that I would fall in love with off-roading! That said, I started to invest into my rig with the idea that I can transfer most everything into another rig, keeping all OEM suspension parts. That still holds true. Also, I have cleared many a trail that my 4x4 group thought I’d have issues with. I have still yet to encounter a trail that I’ve failed. And no, I have not destroyed trails in the process. You will see in all of my videos that I have not simply skidded my way to the top. Bottom line is that I am having fun and have invested into a rig that allows me to do so. Not sure what is wrong in that situation! 👊🤙 I look forward to off-roading with you!

@@TheStokedLife Completely valid! Just curious as to why not trade in on a 4w4 if your serious about the off-road potential. I drive a Sport and get shit for not having locker, but I've never been in a situation where I needed it so I completely understand!

@@user-ej1bq4bq2w mainly because I simply LOVE this truck and its capabilities! And the color, which is now discontinued!

Did your truck get a lot of pinstripes on this trail?

Not too bad on this particular trail. I usually run GOAT Armor magnets, but I didn't on this trip.

i recently went and i dont see you going over the most difficult parts. let me guess the gladiator in front pulled you up ?

Cleared every last bit of it and never got stuck. Not a single pull or use of my winch. Scout’s - well, Marine’s Honor! Believe it or not, the rear locker does wonders.

@@TheStokedLife 19psi is good I think it depends on what type of tire and another thing is if your wheels are bead lock or not, and here is why without bead locks when you lower your tire pressure it can cause a flat bc the tire can roll off rim. So be wise about capability of your wheels.

Too much hassle and not much enjoyment in my opinion, that's why I got rid of the damn 2wd and got me a TRD off road 4x4
