This journey full of mystery and adventure is very important. In the Puranas, there is a detailed mention of this river by a different name, Revakhand. Parikrama has great importance in Hindu religion. Parikrama means going around a common place or a person from his left side. This is also called 'doing Pradakshina', which is a part of Shodashopachar puja. Narmada Parikrama or Yatra is a religious journey. Whoever completes the circumambulation of either Narmada or Ganga has done the greatest work of his life. Before he died, he learned everything that he would never have been able to know in life had he not traveled. Parikrama of Narmada has more importance. While on one hand there are mysteries, thrills and dangers in Narmadaji's Pradakshina Yatra, there is also a storehouse of experiences. Your life will change after this journey. Some people say that if the circumambulation of Narmadaji is done properly then the circumambulation of Narmadaji is completed in 3 years, 3 months and 13 days, but some people also complete it in 108 days. Parikramavasi circumambulate on foot continuously on both the banks of about 1,312 kilometers.
