M-AUDIO Axiom 61 Enigma Editor software

Thanks Viorel it was a pleasure to help. Great that the editor actually installs under Win 11. It means it will work under Win 7 and Win 10 too. Just out of interest I am keeping my MAudio Axiom 61 (although the pitch wheel has been bypassed for the moment, not sure if the parts will become available though) I am going to get the latest one which is the MAudio Oxygen Pro 61. Good news is that MAudio have provided an editor for this new model now as standard which is excellent. For those thinking about maybe getting this new model. What I really like too is having controller 7 (volume) on the right hand slider. It actually works with almost every software and hardware synth I have. Meaning you can fine tune volume right from the MAudio itself. I am not sure the Enigma editor would work with the latest Oxygen Pro because it has some new things on it which may not be covered by the editor. I see the earlier Oxygen 61 is listed though which is good to know.

I'm also concerned if I can send SySEx, like play, stop, fills..for controlling Ketron SD40 arranger section from the controller. But still digging.

Great to to see you working with this controller. A couple of years may have gone by since it first came out. It is still a great controller though doing a great job in my setup.

A simple search for the exact filename for Enigma returned many links, some not as straightforward as others. Downloaded, installed and it works on Windows 10 (of course). I followed your demonstration and voila! I move the rightmost slider and yes, the volume changes. My AXIOM 61 can be controlled. Thank you.

​@viocaia I beg an answer to a question if you know it. Above the first digit 0 (lower left corner) at time @3:16 (for example) there is an icon that I can't find a description for in the manual. I have no clue.

My new MAudio Oxygen Pro 61 arrived today and I must say it is very nice indeed. Pitch wheel works perfectly too. I think they have improved things a lot in terms of the mechanics of the pitch wheel for sure. It's got lots of new fancy features too. It's a lot better than the old Axiom I must say. Have checked out the latest editor and it is excellent. Makes setting things up a breeze.

@@viocaia Keybed action is the same if not a little nicer in fact. Same waterfall keys, slightly weighted. They play very well with piano instruments as well. The editor is great too.

Check the diodes on PCB and look closer to the black dots (where the rubber it's getting to PCB) sometimes I found at the edge of the carbon dot (stripe better) the traces from PCB interrupted. You need a magnifier and a small soldering pen to fix it. Also, a multimeter to check for continuity. But I suspect a wire in the ribbon from keys PCB to main board, check all one by one.

Nice that works for you. I have the Axiom 25 2nd gen. Enigma doesn't work on Windows 10. I did successfully installed it on Windows 11 as well but Enigma doesn't have in the devices list my model of the Axiom 25. I am not able to program my midi controller at all so my modulation wheel and 5 out of 8 pads are blank. I've been searching all over the web for any software besides Enigma to program my model... I really like the keybed and features. But not being able to program my device is frustrating.

Consider this keyboard doesn't have a sound generator. It's a MIDI controller, so to have sound you need to plug it to a PC at least with a Sound Canvas of any sort. Windows have a built-in GM sound canvas. As soon as you open a sequencer like Cakewalk, Cubase, even Seikaju, you can do all the necessary adjustments to access the sounds.

@@viocaia It's a bit of a bad sign that the only way I could figure out how to get to the PC version of this was from the link you shared. Thanks. Recently found that these M-Audio seem to actually support NRPNs which most Midi Controllers have sadly dropped.

Great video. I still have an Axiom 49 and the original Keystation Pro 88, and recently got back into music making. You have to search a lil on M-Audio's site, but they still have the Windows Install up. Saved me a lot of $$ and time knowing it still works.
