Greetings Woozie Face! To get the knobs to function, go to 22:00 in the video. Remember to save your Ableton Live Set. Only the saved Live Set contains the links to the knobs. Give it another go, cheers.

@@WoozieFace In the video I used Windows 10, Ableton Live 10, and the Oxygen 8 "V2". Tell me what happens when you get to 22:00 When you click on MIDI does the screen change colors? When you click on a knob on-screen does the knob change colors. When you rotate a knob on the Oxygen 8 does the on-screen knob rotate and log the assignment on-screen?

I can get ableton into edit midi mode (Things are tinted blueish and the midi assignments tab opens up on the left) When I try to move a knob on the keyboard to make the assignment, nothing happens in ableton, but the keyboard changes numbers on screen accordingly. Also! The keyboard's screen says off even tho plugged in to ableton and the power button being turned on

@@WoozieFace When you click on "MIDI" click the "On-screen" knob you want to assign (like Volume or Tone) then rotate the Oxygen 8 knob. You should see the assignment on screen.

Greetings Seasonedstafan! The Oxygen 8 V2 is a very old MIDI Controller, not a true musical instrument. Without a computer and a DAW it has no voice or sound to amplify. There is no audio output. Thank you for your question, cheers.

Hello Francis! I use a HP PC running Windows 10. I know little about Macs but it should be similar. Most things are easier on the Mac. If you to not have the manual go to the M-Audio website. Inr Support, the Oxy-8 manual maybe in with 'legacy" products. Do you have a specific question?

Unfortunately, M-Audio stopped supporting the Oxygen8 and hasn't updated the drivers for a long time now. The last driver update available on M-Audio's website isn't compatible with the most recent MAC OS. Maybe you know a work around?

Greetings Jephhy! I bought mine used and had a similar problem. Anytime I touched the USB cable, I got an error message. Next time wiggle your USB cable and see if it causes the problem. I was able to replace the USB socket in the back of the MIDI myself. But before you do that, try a different USB cable, cheers.

Greetings Nived S! This is a very old MIDI. Go to M-Audio.com. There is a pull-down menu in the upper-left corner. Goto Support Options: Drivers and Updates, Legacy (Products) look for your specific MIDI. My MIDI is a Oxygen 8 V2, so it needs no drivers, but the manual is there. Give that a go, cheers.

Good day Cip, thanks for the very informative video. I've been interested in this controller and finally found a seller. However, I'm using an M1 Mac Mini, and was wondering if you have any idea if it will work with an M1 Machine. I know it was advertised as "class compliant," but based on the info I've gathered from people who are still using it or tried to use it today, it works perfectly fine on Windows. But I haven't found anyone who can confirm that it will work with an M1. Now, I know from the video that you are using a Windows PC, but I was still hoping you'd have some information, or maybe have tried to use it with an M1 yourself. Thanks so much!

Greetings Mayhem! This M-Audio MIDI is very old. The first version was not fully USB compliant and required drivers. The second version "V2" was USB compliant and "should" work with USB compliant PC/Mac. I am not very familiar with Mac's. I think you need to keep searching of someone who is doing it, read all the comments or get an agreement that allows you to get a full refund if the MIDI does not work with your Mac, cheers.

@@cipstechitips1574 The display illuminates, but with 0.0.0. and the computer doesn't recognise any connected usb device. It is a common problem. In fact it seems to be what most people experience which is why we all want to know HOW you connected it which you never seem to reply to unfortunately. It is the only thing left out of your video. You show how to connect it to the DAW but not how to connect it to the computer. You seem to be the only one who has managed to make this work online so it would be great to know how you did it and maybe get a copy of the software used? What drivers do you have installed? This defo does not just connect to Windows when plugged in. I am not a newbie to this so if it was something simple I would have managed to set it up already. The main problem is we need the drivers for it or whatever software came with it. Please do not direct us to the Adobe website unless you know the link for what we are looking for as I have looked through it already as have others who have commented on here before me but no one can find anything. There is Mac drivers available for it but not Windows. What does it come up us in your device manager? Where did you get the drivers from and can we have some help please? I was unaware of comments referring to drivers for the Oxygen 8 Version 2 (Check your version). KZbin changed something so I only see original comments and not replies from users to other users. I purchased this MIDI in a Thrift store "as is". No software, adapters, or USB cable. I plugged it in to my PC, went to Ableton Live, changed my preferences and it worked. I downloaded the manual from M-Audio: no drivers. There is much discussion about drivers, but I agree with this comment: Self Indulgent Gamer • 1 month ago @Jhan Rojas Hello, yes it worked fine for my WIndows 10, I did not even need the driver. I just selected it as he does in the video. :)

Greetings Qtonalli! Many people have trouble with the Oxygen8. It is different from the Oxygen8 version 2. I think the Oxy8 is not USB compliant and needs drivers. The best is to check M-Audio Product Support on their website. Look under "Legacy" products.

Hello Ghost! I wish I knew more about Pocket Operators and Volcas. These MIDI keyboards are built to the MIDI standard so if something is made for MIDI it "should" work, no guaranties. Ableton Live Lite is free and does not expire. It is limited in the number of tracks and instruments. By the time you out grow it, you should learned enough to know what you should buy $$$. Cheers.

It's a longshot but I might as well ask here as anywhere else. How do I assign the mod wheel on my M-Audio Oxygen8 v1? There are dedicated function keys for the data slider (low Eb) and the 8 control knobs (low F) and there are dedicated function keys for CC#, CC level and PC (low BB, B and C, respectively). However, there's no key purely for the mod wheel. Any ideas?

Greetings Dino! The easiest way to set your Mod Wheel is through your DAW. I use Ableton Live. You setup Mod Wheel the same way you assign any knob or fader, cheers.

Greeting Clarence! This is a very common question. I use Windows 10 and did not install any drivers. If you read the comments, you will find some people do have problems. It may be a problem in the Audio driver setup: MME/DirectX or ASIO. It is hard to tell because mine works. Follow the Audio setup closely. Let me know if you get it to work. Kind regards

Greeting Steve! I do not know much about the Oxygen 8 v1. Go to M-Audio.com then "Downloads." Under "Series" select Legacy, under Product select "Oxygen 8". Under "O/S" select your operating system. Click the "Show Results" button to see what drivers are available. I think the v1 has a battery7 compartment. You might also try using a powered USB hub. Good luck.

Your windows looks old. I have windows 11 and it will not recognize the set-up CD ROM which came with the keyboard, which I bought secondhand. On the M-Audio website it says that the Oxygen 8 v 2 doesn't is not supported on windows 11. I was hoping that this video would show how to get round the problem of dated devices with newer computers that I might be able to install drivers for my old Oxygen 8 v2. I would be using Cake Walk and not Albelton

Greetings Berkeley! This MIDI is USB compliant and should not need a special driver. This is a frequent subject of discussion. If you read through the comments you will find viewers looking for a driver. It may be the original Oxygen 8 (version 1). My experience is only with Windows 10, no driver install. Good luck. I have a question about this. I recently bought one of these at a thrift shop for $10, it's not the exact same model as you've got here though (it's the older one I think). I've put batteries in it, and it lights up as normal and the knobs and whatnot work, but the keys won't make sound at all. Does it need to be hooked up to either the computer or something else to make noise? Or do I have a broken one? Thanks in advance!

Greeting Nabzarella! Mine is a version 2. and does not have batteries. It is a MIDI and will not make a sound without a PC/Mac running a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) app. It is powered by the USB connection. Good luck, cheers.
