The KZbin algorithm got me here, and they got it right!! I have a feeling that 99% of people watching this video are Bandmaid fans and watched it to the end only because Akane was playing drums. Everybody has to start somewhere, and playing different genres probably made Akane what she is now.

So many ignorant comments saying Akane is not smiling. Of course not. This is not her band at the time. She is covering for the drummer. She has the music score on a music stand to her left. She is helping them out as a fill-in. So, obviously she is more serious. This was the cafe where she worked as a server during the daytime. She had asked the manager if she could help them on the drums when they had bands there and she got the okay. At this time, she most likely was either at the end of her music schooling or had graduated. Later this cafe will close unexpectedly and Akane will be unemployed. But then, she will get the fateful call from Kanami.

She was not in a lounge band. I think that's the live house she used work as a wait person and play drums during evening hours. She said so from her interviews. She is so young and (kind of) awkward and but playing very well - so cute. I really like her here. It's great.

She looks like she's really struggling, actually 🙄 I think she still felt not very confident on drums at the time. She even counts the beats, you see her lips are moving. The song actually is a fertile field for a drummer to make an excellent cover, and the band is not bad at all. Yes, they play in a bar, and there are more people on stage than in the audience, but that does not matter so much. The band is good, and Akane is trying to do her part. She's not smiling, though, and that's the key, probably. We are all very lucky that Kobato has got the idea of BAND-MAID in her mind, and saved Akane from a dull career of playing in bars. Which actually proves that no matter what talent you have, it flourishes in a good environment only.

I would like to know more of this band. The title calls them freec but the banner says freecs. The English interwebs is of little help so far.
