What a blissful rendering of a rare composition , very ably accompanied as well ! Count on this prolific vocalist to pleasantly surprise you time and again with virtually 'unprecedented' items. Pampered and spoilt over decades by a perennially expansive repertoire , Rasikas across the board have learnt to settle for nothing less either. I clearly recall the first concert of SS I attended 3 decades ago , then a rising star in the Carnatic horizon.The most memorable takeaway and highpoint even then, as far as I was concerned, was a mesmerising alapana in Hindolam (followed by Ma Ramanan) spanning a good 36 mins. Since then, whenever SS would spot me in the audience,he would graciously strive to oblige with at least a minor piece in Hindolam, knowing it to be my favourite Raag.So sensitively cognisant has he been to the musical cravings of lay fans and very knowledgeable connoisseurs alike. No wonder, he has scaled such dizzying heights in his field of passionate interest and dedicated endeavour. May The Almighty Bless SS with many more years of musical richness and accolades 👍
