I actually feel sorry for Jiang Cheng the most out of all of the characters in this story. He was the only one who survived after all this while everyone he ever loved and cherished left him one by one. The only one who he has left now is nephew Jin Ling who is the last remaining family he has and the only connection he has left to the one he had lost. It’s no wonder he became so full of anger, resentment, and sadness. I don’t think he ever truly hated Wei Wuxian and probably never could. As proof he held on to his flute without destroying it for 13 years. He probably felt that it was the only thing he had of his brother and the happy times they shared.

It actually says in the novel that Jiang Cheng kept the flute because he believed Wei Wuxian hasn't died and knew if Wei Wuxian returned, he would look for Chenqing (The flute) He was filled with such anger, resentment, and sadness that he put all the blame on Wei Wuxian. He even brought home people who cultivated in the demonic arts and tortured them because there was a slight chance it could be Wei Wuxian. He just felt betrayed by Wei Wuxian, not only did he lose his loved and cherished ones but also his entire sect was brought down.. He had to rebuild the whole thing on his own, Wei Wuxian said he would obey Jiang Cheng and cause no more trouble but he then caused Wen Ning to kill Jin ZiXuan (His sister's fiancee) and also caused the dead of his Shijie so I can't blame Jiang Cheng but Wei Wuxian was just trying to protect innocent lives.

i cant this is so cute. Especially jiang Cheng's face when he was giving the flower! I belive in this ship, a lot of people dont understand why i ship them when they dont interact all that much. The reason is after every version of Mdzs wwx left with lan zhan leaving jiang cheng all alone again. Lan Xichen was left alone in seclusion. They both suffered something so close yet so different. I believe they can heal eachother. They might be oil and water but when they are put together its hard to seperate. Lan Xichen trust people easily so he needs jiang cheng to be able to tell the difference and jiang cheng needs someone who can take care of him and balance his anger. Also jiang Cheng's partner requirements fit lan xichen so perfectly. Its literally dot to dot. I dont think anyone is gonna read this...

In the end, I guess Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen are really made for each other. Both of them are people who insist on upholding the status quo and the perceived good name of their Sects above everything, even above the wellbeing of others and their own family. By the end, they have fought SO hard to maintain their privileges and honor, have brought ruin to countless lives, but still did not get personal happiness because honor and social status is hollow. I can totally understand how a lot of people would relate to this, spending their whole lives to be accepted in society and not daring to go against the tide, to keep a good name while staying silent or even taking part while people are wronged as long as they are safe, and then at the end not getting a happy ending anyway. I hope Xicheng would finally live happily while clinging to the status quo and social status they so love.

I don't think JC had much of a choice in this matter, since he couldn't defy the status quo after Lotus Pier burned down and they remained a "great sect" in name only. He always had the potential to defy people in authority (as he did with his mother when she beat WWX down) but it was never explored because he wasn't given a choice. He raised his sect to such heights SO that he wouldn't feel that powerless again. LXC on the other hand was chained under his elders, he knew what was right and believed in good but still just sat by and didn't do anything. He closes his eyes to injustice just so he can pretend everything is okay. I suspect this came from watching his mother defy the sect and suffer so greatly for it, hence why he never went against major sect's wishes.
