Mãe Soberana | Festa Grande

Depois de dois anos de paragem devido à pandemia, o Domingo de Páscoa marcou o regresso da Festa da Mãe Soberana. A maior manifestação religiosa a Sul de Fátima decorreu nos dias 17 de abril (Festa Pequena) e 01 de maio (Festa Grande), voltando a atrair milhares de fiéis à cidade de Loulé.
No momento inaugural das celebrações - a chamada Festa Pequena, que coincidiu com o Domingo de Páscoa -, a imagem da Padroeira desceu em procissão desde a Ermida da Nossa Senhora da Piedade até à Igreja de S. Francisco, permanecendo aí durante 15 dias. O programa encerrou com a Festa Grande, no regresso da imagem à sua “casa”, e que constituiu o ponto alto dos festejos desta festa profundamente enraizada na identidade louletana.
Foi entre “Vivas!”, lenços a acenar, foguetes e o acompanhamento da Banda Filarmónica Artistas de Minerva que se realizou o percurso, representando uma enorme demonstração de fé, especialmente por parte dos homens do andor, que apesar das adversidades do terreno, do peso do palanquim e, por vezes, em condições climatéricas adversas, levaram uma vez até ao fim a sua missão.
Ao esforço dos homens que transportaram a Virgem, aliou-se a força espiritual dos muitos fiéis que, por entre vivas à Nossa Senhora, em passo vivo e na cadência musicada dos homens da banda, foram “empurrando” no calor da fé e calçada acima, o pesado andor da Padroeira.
Para além do programa litúrgico, o fogo de artifício foi o culminar de uma festa que tem também uma forte componente cultural e turística.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Easter Sunday marked the return of the Feast of the Sovereign Mother. The largest religious manifestation south of Fátima took place on 17 April (Festa Pequena) and 1 May (Festa Grande), once again attracting thousands of faithful to the city of Loulé.
At the opening moment of the celebrations - the so-called Little Feast, which coincided with Easter Sunday - the image of the Patroness descended in procession from the Hermitage of Our Lady of Piety to the Church of St. Francis, where it remained for fifteen days. The program closed with the Great Feast when the image returned to its "home", which constituted the high point of the festivities of this feast deeply rooted in the identity of Loulé.
It was amidst "Vivas!", waving handkerchiefs, fireworks, and the accompaniment of the Artistas de Minerva Philharmonic Band that the route took place, representing an enormous demonstration of faith, especially on the part of the men of the litter, who despite the adversities of the terrain, the weight of the palanquin and, at times, adverse weather conditions, once again carried out their mission to the end.
To the effort of the men carrying the Virgin, was allied the spiritual strength of the many faithful who, amidst the cheers to Our Lady, in lively step and to the musical cadence of the men of the band, was "pushing" in the heat of faith and up the pavement, the heavy litter of the Patroness.
