'You waited for my reply, so lemme CC you' - CC is Chocolate City, M.I's record label, so besides the CC (email) meaning, it also means he wants to sign him to CC and help his life. Then the part where he says 'you're not top 5 in yorubaland,......* lists out the top five* see the queue.' - It's a nice play on words because he said 'see the queue' which obviously refers to the long queue of rappers in front of Vector but also makes reference to 'CDQ' who is another Lagos rapper.

Love from Nigeria 🇳🇬 The "dobale chale" is a bar based on nigerian culture dobale is yoruba for prostrating which is how we show respect to adults in our culture. M.I is kind of short so it's basically a double entendre telling vector no matter how tall/big you get in this industry, im still bigger than you and you will show respect to your betters.

Thank you. Thanks a million. MI has been my favourite hip hop artiste for the past 10 years and I'm glad he's getting known on the international scene. He's got a lot (I mean A LOT) of good stuff you should check out. Now, let me help a bit with this one... First, Abaga... the first pronunciation 0:41 was spot on. 3:50 Thanks for the throwback! 😂 4:50 This was part of a "mini" beef between MI and another Nigerian rap artist (Vector aka Lanre). This track practically ended the beef though. 6:27 "You should look up to me like your pale; I'm happy my son is taller; Doesn't mean you won't dobale, chale" - Pale is slang for dad. Goes with the next line about Vector being his son. - MI is a bit short. Okay he's short. The first track on his first album (2008) was titled "Short Black Boy." - "Dobale" is Yoruba (Nigerian language) for "prostrate." It's a form of greeting or a gesture of respect to a superior in Yoruba land. Basically how you're meant to greet your parents. - "Charle" is a Ghanaian slang for pal or buddy. So that line basically means, I'm glad you're growing up but you'll still have to show respect to your elders. 7:11 This was a perfect summary of this track's theme 8:25 "You can never battle Jude, your default setting is LOSE" At least that's what I heard 😂 10:10 I'll just say MI is a more accomplished entertainer in Africa. You should check out "You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Life" 13:20 I'm just sitting here grinning like a dummy. Simply love the fact that you guys get it! 😂 19:43 The beef ended and they collaborated on a number of tracks where MI does let Vector shine. Check out "Crown of Clay"

In Nigeria, especially common in the west, when a young person meets an older person or a person considered to be of high status or authority, the younger person lies on the floor to signify utmost respect. (This culture is almost obsolete now, only when there's a traditional occasion like a marriage). This type of greeting in yoruba language is called "dorbale". This beef is between Vector who calls himself the viper and MI abaga who calls himself Judah. Vector is taller than MI and in his last diss to MI, he made a bar that said, "I'm sure that thinking is far from you, because it's top of the shelf" which was not dissing MI's height as he is quite short. So MI replies by saying, "I'm happy my son is taller, but that doesn't mean he won't dorbale"

Yo....I have been watching several reactions to Nigerian Raps/Songs from hosts outside Nigeria/Africa and I can categorically say your team is the BEST so far and SECOND to yourself ...Your expertise from correctly narrating the story line in the track, to sharing a perfect understanding of the possible UNDERTONE of the track and asking for where you think you missed certain information regarding "infusion of local language/Nigerian Broken English"...That was the most brilliant have seen in recent time. Let me say this, many teams outside/inside Africa have reacted to this dissed track by M.I Abaga ( pronounced same way is written, not with the 'J ' sound/tone) coz the fued stood top of the rest in history of Nigeria and possibly Africa at large. Undoubtedly, M.I is an OG in the Hiphop/Rap game in the continent as you have assumed from the onset. If I don't wanna be biased as a Nigerian, I will say he's one the best lyricist of all time in our continent in this decade till date. Although we've got other giants in the 4corners of Africa..From the WEST- M.I Abaga (Nig🇳🇬), SARKODIE (Ghana)...EAST-Kaligraph Jones (Kenya) ...SOUTH-Nasty C, Casper (SA) ....However, I can't really say who is top in the Northern Africa. But I can state that M.I has ruled even the Top 4 in Africa...In this particular Diss Track, he was referring to another Rapper in Nigeria called VECTOR " The Viper"...Vector is also tough on the mic, and has been rated Top 10 in Africa. He has been the one always trying to outshine M.I ...Their fueds had been ongoing for years but got recently settled and they both appeared on a cypher staged by HENNESSEY in 2021( You might want to take a look). In all, M.I has done it all and still stands tall among the rest...#PeaceOut

6:29 "Dobale" is Yoruba for prostrate/bow down. So, in that line, MI - who is particularly short physically - is saying he's glad that Vector (the diss target), whom he has inspired, is physically taller...but at the end of the day, he'll still have to bow down to his father.
@uyo-obongetim34623 жыл бұрын
Whatever MI Abaga said on this song were facts. AQ, another dope rapper from Nigeria was with Vector for years and just recently, he switched camp to MI's and just last year, he won the best rap album of the country with God's Engineering (you should check it out). M has always had people deep in Vector's camp, evidence being that in one of Vector's diss to him before this reply, M had the whole song and posted it on his page even before Vector released it. The sit in different cabin bar really happened 😂😂😂, they were traveling to the Nation's capital and they happened to be on the same flight, Vector with his goons flew economy while M was in business. The daddy bar made much sense cos Vector just welcomed a baby boy at the time, so everything just clicked. Vector has never put anyone on, M on the other hand has been a part of lots of artiste's progress in the country and Africa as a whole, from his brother Jesse Jagz (a dope MC) to Ice Prince (who won a BET award) to lots of collaborations on his projects (Illegal Music 1,2,3, Yxng Dxnzxl, MI2, Rendezvous, The Chairman, The Live Report, Judah, Talk About It), he even rapped about it in one of his songs, " I've schooled about 10 rappers from each of the 36 states (they're 36 states in Nigeria), that's a circle of rappers........." Everything he spat on this song are facts, he extended that hand of fellowship finally to Vector (watch The Conversation with Hennessy) and they made Crown of Clay, a dope track too. That being said, MI Abaga (the first pronunciation was/is correct) is the African Rap God, the Goat of the African Rap scene.

12:31 That's where the deadliest bar is. "You're not even top five from Yoruba land..." Then MI goes on to name Yoruba rappers he puts ahead of Vector: "Mode, Eldee, Badoo, DaGrin, Remi, YC and Falz...omo, CDQ..." Including CDQ is the punch, because he's more of a hype man than a rapper. And as a double entendre, C-D-Q sounds like "see the queue"...showing just how far behind his peers MI thinks Vector is.

This was MI being funny and addressing a beef, more like giving the dude some lessons. He is a cool kid, one of African's finest, if not the finest. The beef between him and Vector has now ended leading to the of release a new single"Crown of Clay", a very nice song🙌 MI has a couple of good albums... You can look up his song "Everything and Unstoppable. Dude is really good.

Very cool you got to an African artist outside of South Africa! I'm happy for the Nigerian subs, and I'm glad to be introduced to this artist. Diss tracks are never a great introduction (in my opinion), but it's pretty clear he's got talent and has obviously been successful. It didn't explode my head like when you guys first did Avelino, Dave, or Mick Jenkins (reminder to react to Mick Jenkins' "I'm Convinced"). But I'm intrigued.

'Lanre see, I've always rated you even though you've been mean to me'... Lanre is a Yoruba name so he must be talking to a person originally names Lanre. 'You should look up to me like I'm your pale'... Pale means father 'I'm happy my son is taller, it doesn't mean you won't dobale' .. . Dobale mean bow down to honour-- he just called him son and told him his height don't matter so he'll still bow. 'Charlie'... Boy - - he called him boy!

Listen to his first album “Talk About It “and “MI 2 “ those are classics and then Vector (the viper’s ) response is “Judas the Rat “ . MI ‘s real name is Jude But the whole beef started with “ Tetracycling “ the viper’s first diss to MI

The bar from 6:29 is basically saying he is happy that the dude is so successful rn but he shouldn't forget that that he still has to give him respect. (Dobale the act of going on the floor to greet an elder. over here it is a huge deal)
