I've had my own issues with depression and lack of motivation for most of my life. Learning how to manage those issues is a long, complex, and deeply personal process, and what works for someone else may not work for you - and vice versa. I personally find that trying to get something done every day, no matter how small, and irrespective of my state of mind, I make more progress than when I choose to take time out. In fact, when I do the latter, I find that I stop being productive for days or even weeks at a time. No approach is invalid, and its perfectly fine to change your approach from time to time. I hate admitting that I'm not feeling so great, either. I consider it part of the whole imposter syndrome thing - I don't consider my own issues quite as valid as perhaps I should.
it's so great to see a segment dedicated mental health and the impression of a perfect life/the romanticization of art school. it's important for people to realize that these are very small, 10 minute snapshots of your life that you share with us but don't actually represent everything you go through. same goes for basically everything else on the internet. the inability to apply the advice you give to others, to yourself is aa very relatable struggle. I hope the toll of the semester is lessened and you are able to thrive from now and onwards.

I appreciate that you came out and pretty much said to skip class if you aren't doing well mentally. We've been ingrained to ignore that aspect of school, and it was something really hard for me to come to terms with. School's a pain and I've struggled with my mental health because of it, but if you mentally cannot take it anymore TAKE A BREAK.

academic burnout is real ‼️ as someone struggling with bipolar it's really a challenge itself to deal with life every single day 🥲 kinda ironic for me as a psychology major 🥹 i hope prioritizing our mental health would also be part of us keeping ourselves in check ✨

I too thought that you seemed much happier lately. You've made great progress in your studies, and all I could think was 'They've got this!' Now, hearing that you're struggling with mental health issues is somewhat surprising, but it really shouldn't be. Life is hard, especially at your age when you're still figuring out how the world works and what you want. We can't expect everything to fall into place all the time. Sometimes it's hard. Sometimes it's harder than it should be, and sometimes it's even more than we feel we can bear at that time. So trust yourself, trust your abilities, and listen to yourself to adjust speed as needed. If you can't take a class now, take it later. Don't be afraid to take the time to heal. Get better first, then get back to rocking. I still think you're doing great, and I'm certain you will go far in life. You've got this!

we always judge ourselves harder then others, like you said it's a easy thing to tell your friends to not go to class if they are not feel like it mentally or physically, but for you it's something wrong, it'a a long and hard process to validate our own feelings and be kinder and softer to ourselves too, openly talking about it is a nice and very courageous thing to do! I feel like it too, most of the times... also I think when we show some aspects of happines in our lives it doesn't mean that everything is going well, maybe it's the little things that keep us going but not everyone knows, because they don't spend all the time with us. I hope you continue on this journey of learning and respecting your own boundaries, and know that is more than okay to make a pause, and rearrenge things.

telling you this probably wont magically change your mindset but school does not really matter that much, i mean ofc its important but if its your mental health is on stake, sometimes even taking a whole year is OK because your well-being is over anything. (i'm telling this because its been only a day or two i've been watching you and I can already tell school is stressing you out way too much.) school wont go anywhere and as long as you're good and healthy you can always continue what you do. not my place to advice you but as you cant apply this logic to yourself, its our part to comfort you as we're kind of your distant friends. :')
