When she is at rest in the water or even tied up pierside with her anchor dropped the Yamato has those nice signature battleship lines to her. I have always felt that she was the best looking spaceship of all time. I could never figure out why she had to have the belly observation deck. With her radar nose, hull and the belly deck concealed, she is actually quite beautiful. Another detail I noticed as the series progressed -- unlike in the original, you really got to see how Captain Avatar's terminal disease progressed, with it giving him an increasingly tired appearance. I consider it to be one of the more accurate depictions of how an illness ravages, then ultimately claims, its victim. Very well done, it really hurt watching him succumb. His spirit was willing but his body failed him.
