美しいとやまの祭り 庄川夜高祭り The beautiful rural festival in Japan

自然豊かな富山県砺波市庄川。全国的に珍しい散居村の地・砺波平野に位置し、町の中央には清流として名高い庄川が流れ、清らかな水に恵まれた「水の王国とやま」の一翼となっています。町には古くから湯治の湯として親しまれてきた庄川温泉郷があるほか、柚子や鮎などの特産品が有名で、恵まれた自然に囲まれています。
庄川夜高祭は、毎年6月第1土曜日と第1日曜日の2日間開催される庄観光祭の一部。庄川観光祭1日目には、庄川峡花火大会と夜高行燈コンクール、夜高行燈合せ（いわゆるケンカ祭り）が開催されます。2日目にも初日と同じく夜高行燈の合わせが行われます。庄川夜高のあんどんは、町を祭り一色に彩ります。

The Shogawa Yotaka Festival is held at Shogawa district in Tonami-City, Toyama, on the first Saturday and the first Sunday in June, as a part of Shogawa Festival.
On the first day of festival, Yotaka Andon Contest and Fighting of Yotaka, etc. is held along with very pretty fireworks.
The main event is Yotaka Andon, which is also a walk through the town during 2 festival days.
It began as an event to pray for a good harvest. Each town made its own Andon, and as they competed with each other, they became bigger and flashier.
Yotaka Andon is a huge andon, made of bamboo, Japanese paper, wire, etc., and coated with a dye or wax. Andon’s feet are carts with wheels. Yotaka Andon seems to be something you can’t see outside of Toyama and Hokkaido.
As the sun goes down, Andon lights up and Andon walks through the town of Shogawa. The appearance of moving hard with a loud shout makes you feel hot just by looking at it. The design is different in each region, so it’s fun to compare.
The Shogawa Festival, which colors the city in a festival, is full of highlights every year and is crowded with people from both inside and outside the prefecture. Various events such as the heroic Yodaka Andon, fireworks dancing in the night sky, rainbow trout grabbing and YASKOI performances are abundant.
