In this incarnation, Mahamaya filled the earth with green vegetables and fruits through rain, which gave life to all the creatures on earth. Due to producing vegetables, Mother Bhavani was named Shakambhari. After this the whole world became green. Precious metals dominated the surface of the earth. Along with prosperity, people also started struggling for this natural wealth. Then the mother turned the precious wealth and invaluable treasure into salt. At present, this salt lake is spread over an area of about 90 square miles. Since then, salt is seen everywhere here.
