マーク・マンダース / Mark Manders

1968年生まれ。現代美術作家。1986年に「建物としてのセルフポートレイト」というコンセプトを得て以来、一貫した制作活動を開始。彫刻や家具、日用品、建築部材などを“想像上の”部屋に配するインスタレーションを手がけている。サンパウロ・ビエンナーレ（1988）やドクメンタ11（2002）などの国際展に招聘され、 2013 年のヴェニス・ビエンナーレではオランダ代表作家としてオランダ館で個展を開催し、2021年には東京都現代美術館にて大規模な個展が開かれる予定。
Born in 1968. Contemporary artist. Since Manders adopted the concept of “Self-Portrait as a Building” in 1986, all his works have constituted part of a single, mammoth, self-portrait. His drawings and sculptures evolve continuously and organically according to how they are combined in his “imaginary rooms.” He participated in various international art exhibitions such as the 24th São Paulo Biennale (1998) and Documenta 11 in Kassel (2002), represented the Netherlands at the Dutch pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale (2013), and will be presenting a large-scale exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo in 2021.
