Yes, I agree with those who say that song, and indeed many Greek songs, are influenced by the Turkish musical tradition. That tradition also influenced the Arabic tradition. But the Greeks seem to be also quite inventive in that they add to what they take, like that by Sabah Fakhri, a Syrian -- and they made it even more beautiful. I wish our Greek artists give us English translations of these beautiful songs, which also sound to me like Babylonian/Iraqi religious hymns or songs in praise of the Almighty.

@victorsasson1911 can you prove that the greeks were influenced by the Turkish tradition and that they were not the ones that along with the Arabs and the Armenians shaped the Turkish music tradition?.....I think that you have heard of Byzantine music and the relevance of it with makams...so are you sure that the greeks didnt know about microtonal modal music?

@@Stilvotidis - Lozan’da 30 Ocak 1923 tarihinde Türk ve Rum Nüfus Mübadelesine dair sözleşme ve protokol imzalanmıştır. Bu sözleşme 23 Ağustos 1923 tarih ve 340 Nolu kanun ile tasdik edilmiştir. The Article and Protocol about " Exchange of Turkish and Greek People is signed on the date of January 30 1923 in Lausanne. And Approved in August 1923 by Turkish Parliament with 340 numbered Law.
