Five very sonorous bells are placed in the tower of the burial church in Mönchengladbach-Günhoven.
In 1947 the construction of St.Matthias started according to plans by architect Peter Salm from Aachen. The consecration took place on August 31, 1952. After appropriate renovations, the church was reopened in early 2013 as a burial church. Due to the high demand, an extension was built in 2016. The construction work was completed in 2017, so that the blessing of the new Lady Chapel could take place in August of the same year. As usual for a burial church, the interior is very simply furnished. A large wooden partition in the chancel can be pushed aside during church services. In 2019, the burial church received a new organ from the company Kuhn from Männedorf (CH). The instrument has 14 stops on two manuals and a pedal, four of which are designed as alternating sliders. The organ replaces an instrument of almost the same size that was in bad condition.
Five bells are hanging in the very spacious bell chamber, which were cast in 1965 by the bell foundry Eifeler Glockengießerei Johannes Mark & Sohn in Brockscheid. The sonorous bells are an impressive proof of the quality standard that the bell foundry in Brockscheid already maintained at this time. The above-average surface quality of the individual bells should also be noticed! In combination with the very good acoustics of the tower, the peal leaves a lasting, very positive impression.
