Just got mine the other day and ran both 115 and 124 through it. What I found is that if I in any way did not have a solid grip that would happen. No limp wristing it...Once I had that in the back of my mind it was smoooth as butta.
@VictoryLapME5 ай бұрын
Solid point. Lazy grip and that can happen with this, many other pistols also
@369damnthingsfine5 ай бұрын
Completely agree. Got mine today and went to the range with 115 and had 2 malfunctions in the first 2 mags but once I tightened up on the grip didn’t have a single issue in 250rd.
@ryanalexander63005 ай бұрын
I did that with an M&P 5.7. Firmed up my grip and it's been running like a dream.

If you’re running the comp S&W recommends a minimum of 124 grain ammunition. The 115 grain is to light to reliably cycle the slide with the comp. I took mine off and no issues shooting 115 grain without the comp. My front night sight did die on me but S&W is sending me another one under their warranty.
@4lbertoZ4val46 ай бұрын
Mine did the exact same thing with the comp. Took it off and it worked flawlessly. I never put it back on.

Alright nice. Have you shot suppressed? Looking for feedback there also. Yours will probably run better in a fee rounds comp back on. These seem picky to start otherwise great pistols.
@4lbertoZ4val46 ай бұрын
Haven’t shot with a suppressor, no. I’m around 900 or so rounds in. Maybe I’ll try the comp down the road but I’m really enjoying it without it. I got an apex tac thread protector with the o-ring installed. Looks and works great. Cheers

I have one and shot a couple hundred rounds through it without a hiccup. I shot 147gr ammo and had zero issues with the comp. The only issue I had was the comp kept coming loose so I just took it off. Like I said haven’t had one issue with mine.
@VictoryLapME6 ай бұрын
Good info. The gun is solid aside from comp security. I have no issues with ammo anymore. Use the comp, have to check often. Owners could use a different thread lock but the versatility is essential imo. A more solid set screw method would the best.
@arsenal_275 ай бұрын
So when I first got mines and took it out shooting I loved it. When I got it home to clean it I noticed one of the screws for the comp had came out. Ordered some new ones and extra thread locker on it. Honestly thinking about replacing the barrel with a ported one and getting rid of the comp
@tommyellisonjr68496 ай бұрын
Its not bad ammo its just the wrong grain ammo...The Manual recommends 124 or 147 grain...the same thing happened with mine.Run 124 and you will be fine...mine also wouldn't run 158 grain. Remove the Comp and it will run it all...
@VictoryLapME6 ай бұрын
I expect it. Both Winchester ammo in this video is 115 grain. The target is fine ammo, I have more of it but that target box was well over a year old. Also not the first new pistol it did not cycle through for me. It was a combo of factors here but the pistol is hauling through any ammo comp on or off. Solid eater
@robertsheppard74626 ай бұрын
Did your comp come loose? It seems to be the one downfall as it happened to mine. Smith and Wesson could have done better with dimpiling the barrel with 2 pointed set screws.
@VictoryLapME6 ай бұрын
@@robertsheppard7462 I had already removed/ broke the thread lock seal before I shot. Ive heard just as yours did from others, comp came loose. Others cannot get to come loose without some major torque. QC variance from SW but nothing major. The comp will come loose with just the set screws in place so SW intent is to use copious amount of thread lock if the user wants the comp most of the time. Otherwise I prefer to be able to take on and off. The correct thread lock should keep in tight but manageable to switch out.
@toddmcbride59475 ай бұрын
@@VictoryLapME Just to clarify, you broke the thread lock/seal before shooting? The longer you shot with the comp, the more the set screws walked out allowing the comp to roll just the slightest bit. 10:24 mark of your video shows them on the verge of falling out. Got mine installed with the supplied thread locker (not on the set screws!) but not sure it will ever come off clean and easy for a can.
@VictoryLapME5 ай бұрын
@@toddmcbride5947 correct. I disassembled and shot without supplying thread locker. If the comp is used without thread lock it needs checked every mag. More security from the set screws would have been great. Nothing major anyway its not as if the comp is going to rotate off the threads or greatly hurt the “compensation”

115 grain with the comp on made mine jam quite a bit. I just took the comp off.
@Migazii5 ай бұрын
Bought to get a new recoils spring to see if that’ll make a difference with the compensator. Most of the 124 grain and up are sold out pretty quickly here and you either have to shoot +p rounds, replace the recoil spring or remove the compensator. Runs flawlessly without the comp though. I got some 124grain to see if it’ll help at all. Also have some +p rounds. Hoping it works cause I really like the look of it.
@vicgarb22884 ай бұрын
Failure to feed or stovepipe are perfectly normal if the recoil spring is too strong. S&W messed up big on that one. It’s well known to go down 3 pounds or so with spring weight. If they say use 124 grain that is true but keeps you very close to failures, imagine gun dirty and dry, still get failures. That said, don’t use comps for self defense with 9mm for that reason
