It refers to the time they enter the group. It's a little like classes through time for example. When the school starts, the ppl in class A is generation 1, then when they graduate, other ppl came and they became class A the 2nd generation. The difference is that the graduation time in classes are the same but here they graduate whenever they want. Currently we have generation 6, 9 and 10.

When Ai-chan was graduated, I'm very relieved....it's time for other member to get their chance to shine.....Because when "Ai" is around she do almost the solo parts. Now I can't wait to see Reina to graduate from momusu. Riho is still new....so I Think she deserve some highlight because she work hard for that too (Just like ai/reina when they are new) How can you aspect someone can get better in singing and performances if you don't get them a chance,give them a challenge so they can improove

When someone gets a lot of lines that means they have the largest fanbase. and if they have the largest fanbase then they have the most popularity and then more people wanna hear more of their voice than any other member so people like Reina and Riho (or at least Tsunku) likes their voice more than any other and I love Reina and Riho's voice

I don't know why ppl are complaining about the line distributions NOW when we already knew it before already, ="=. And members even have more group lines than in 1.2.3. All I want to say about this dance shot is that it's great, the dance is amazing and although no other has solo they still have a good amount of time the camera show them. The front lines are shared by all the girls which is very good.

are you asking what a generation is or what generation is each member from? to answer both a generation in Morning Musume is a collection of singers that join at the same time. For example (answer the second question) Reina (light blue) and Sayumi (light pink) are in 6th generation because they joined in 2002; Riho (red), Kanon (dark green), Erina (Purple), and Mizuki (dark pink) are all in 9th generation (2011); Haruna (brown), Haruka (orange), Masaki (mint), and Ayumi (dark blue) are 10th gen.

I also want to add, that yes, Ai was a jewel! she could sing, she could dance, and her just being in the center of MM brought sunshine to them. she will forever be my favorite MM member T^T. Yet, I can't picture these new songs with her or Aika, and I think Gaki had outgrown MM. Hope she launches a solo career because Gaki was truly amazing. (to the comment saying that sayumi can't sing that much because she was out of breathe in the live.. they all were! but sayumi was the only one who spoke !)

If getting solo lines was based on fanbase then it would be Sayumi taking the lead with Reina and not Riho (or at least those three together or somehting). She is by far the most popular among the current girls. It's all about who is Tsunku's favorite, which I think is incredibly unfair tbh. I feel bad for the girls looking like back-up dancers.

I love this song! and I agree, I'm sick of hearing Reina's voice, I'm sick of seeing her in the center, and why would you put her next to Riho on dance shot versions... I admit Riho needs more vocal training but she is one SHARP dancer! reina looks half hearted and childish dancing next to her. We also need more sayumi, she is a great dancer! and we need more Kanon, she got a lot of attention at first and now she's ignored, her voice and energy were adorable. ( still not fond of the new girls).

to be honest I think Sayumi being leader is okay but that doesn't mean she's meant to sing all the time...... Being leader doesn't always mean you're supposed to be in the spotlight all the time, but still they all need their spotlight... Lines were more even back in the days of Nacchi? Really? Remember Furusato? Manatsu no Kousen? Those were Nacchi with back-up. And Mr. Moonlight is very much Yossie with back-up. Then when Gomaki, fourth and fifth came along the lines were more evenly distributed, true. But there were still leads and those were very often Nacchi, Gomaki and Aichan. So that it was Aichan+Reina+Koharu for a long time isn't that unusual if you care to look to history.
