I'm Japanse, and I'm so glad to hear the opinions of great respect to Japanese old good games. And I hope those who played Japanese old good games recommend them to your friends and family. Masterpieces never die.

I'm a cheap fuck, as much as I want many of the high profile games I will just emulate them overall. Unless of course it's one of those games that happens to be one of my own personal favorite types of games kinda like Snatcher for example which is pricey. That I was willing to pay more for because the game meant so much to me. So honestly I think the price can be justified depending on how much it means to the person who wants it. Outside of the collector who just wants it only because it is rare rather than for the experience itself.

I've had this game since 1990 and it's one of my all time favorites. I used to blast the music through my brother's giant Kenwood speakers. That said, It's definitely not worth $300+. Emulate it and play it! Fantastic game.

How did i NOT see this episode with all of the years i have watched you. This is one of my FAVORITE Genesis games ever. I acquired this by "accident" in a flea market in maybe 1992/1991when my Dad bought it for me. I played it for HOURS and hours and had no idea at the time how prevalent it would be. I didn't care if anyone liked it, I just knew it was good. The music is beyond inspiring for me. It is just so fantastic i can't even explain. I wish i still had the box but i still have the cart. I have played music since I was young and this game has always played a part in my inspiration.

I got a copy of musha w no manual for about 380 usd about two months ago and I do not regret it. Being located in europe, you kind of have to pay these prices due to import, scarce-ability etc. I have not played it yet, but I will, and I will enjoy it. Im not gonna see it as an investment. My collection leaves me when I die (or my gf finds out what it is wort) and so the future price of it does not matter.

M.U.S.H.A is an amazing game. Just crazy graphics and sound. $100 isn't too crazy. A bit much but it's not only a classic in terms of gaming history, but it is a great game in itself. Obviously it's subjective. For the same price in the same generation there are some great RPGs that could be bought instead.

I believe the rarest / most expensive game I own is Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Saturn which I think sells for several hundred pounds / Dollars online. To me It is definitely worth that price and I would never sell it!! I think I picked it up back in the day for £30. I can't imagine a Shoot em up being that worth it though, but I am not a big fan of the genre so I don't know what I am talking about XD Love the idea of this episode though! Maybe we will get a series of 'Is it worth it'? :)

+Veggie Gamer I love rpgs and the experience I get from the story and the characters. When It comes to shooters the reason I love them is the challenge, the arcade feeling playing them and the bosses. I have a family and not a lot of free time to play rpgs like i used to but Shooters are easy to pick up and play and most importantly fun to play. I see you mentioned PDS im playing Panzer dragoon saga right now for the 5th time : )

TB46667 - The Golden Age Gamer Yeah that is a fair point about not having time for some RPGs. I tend to play sport games when I want just a short experience but I can see Shooters fitting that sort of need too. 5th time? Nice work :D I think I may need to start it over again, maybe record it for my channel this time (though it will just be a commentary of me gushing over how good it is XD)!

I would love for someone to interview the people who worked on this game. I bought it back in 1991/92 and I paid around $50 for it. My reason for buying it was because I was into giant anime robots (mecha) and was happy to see a home-game that was about mecha. I completed the game over the course of a few months, but it was very tough. It was a beautiful, action-packed game that has stayed in my mind throughout the years. I wish I'd kept my copy.

When I rediscovered this game like 20 years later, it was such an emotional thing. This is one of the most stylish games of all time.... damn, the music....THE MUSICCCCCCCCC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Japan it's called Musha Aleste, Fullmetal Fighter Elinor. It's part of the Aleste series, which "Space Megaforce" aka Super Aleste is also a part of and is tangentially related to Zanac and Guardian Legend as well given that those games are a sideshoot off the Aleste series.

Looks fantastic, but it's hard to justify the price when you can get several excellent shooters on Genesis (several of which being better) for the same price. It's often only people that own it and didn't pay current price for it that say "it's absolutely worth it"(same with other extremely expensive games). I love shooters, but I wish their was even a shred of objectivity here.

The thing about MUSHA is, it's really hard to find an experience like this on any other 16-bit platform. Space Megaforce is cool but it's not even in the same league in my personal opinion (Aesthetic wise. Ironically they both are apart of the Aleste series). Between the cool art style and great soundtrack, MUSHA is really one of a kind. It's also nice to see a Sega Genesis game get appreciated monetarily. If this game was on the SNES it would be worth close to a grand. Aero FIghters CIB is worth $900 and that game isn't close to as good as MUSHA. HCG Best show on KZbin!

Pai3000 Or you could just get them on the Virtual Console or emulate them, or put them on a flash cartridge if you want to play in real hardware... I mean, good'ol Compile doesn't even exist anymore, they aren't making any money off of this game, so if you buy a real copy your money is all going to the hands of scalpers...
@zborgerd
@zborgerd 9 жыл бұрын
+Ruko Michiharu MUSHA is a good game, but I'd agree that gate of Thunder and Soldier Blade are better games. Lords of Thunder as well. Thunder Force IV, and probably even Gunhed. However, MUSHA has one thing going for it. It's relatively uncommon (not rare) game on a console that's become more of a collector's console in the past two years. Genesis / Mega Drive is the hot thing right now, like the TurboGrafx. Before that it was the NES and SNES. I tied to pick up several games before it took off and barely got away with some good deals, but many games have more than doubled since 2012 / 2013. As a fan of Compile games, I have most of their domestic titles (and some import). MUSHA, like any game, is only worth what people will pay for it, and right now it seems to be one of the higher selling Genesis games along with an average Zelda clone (Crusader of Centy). What does that say about this hobby? I've yet to find anyone claim that either are the best games on the console.

Zach B Do you have Robo Aleste on the Sega CD? I hear that one is pretty good, it's from the same series as Musha and Space Megaforce, but overall, I'm really not a big fan of Compile's Aleste series, but I can appreciate it anyway... That said though I really love Rude Breaker (also by compile) and it's VERY similar to the Aleste games, except It's not as brutally difficult as their other shmups... This one is only playable via emulation though

+Ruko Michiharu WOW...lol been seeing all ur comments on the channels and like the agreement streak ends here!..by no means do i think M.U.S.H.A is the best shooter out there..but to be honest, and i own all three games....it OUTCLASSES both gate of thunder and soldier blade (any of the three hudson games honestly) easily. I spilled my coffee when i read this!!!!!! :-P P.S. i played robo aleste thru emulation and its pretty badass. i dunno where it fits in the series..but there is another "ghost soldier (or maybe knight?) spriggan" that i also finished thru emulation for the pcengine CD and thats prolly the best shooter in my book. Mind u its not as hard as other shooters, so its perfect for wussies like me.

No game is worth that kind of money if there is a good emulation to be had for very little money. Wii VC has MUSHA and that is good enough for me. The reason retro gaming has become a matter of social class is simply because people keep paying more than they should.

It's hard for me to say any retro game or any game in general warrants these crazy prices ....I like to think of myself as a hardcore collector but it all has to be reasonable....I'm also not against emulation whatsoever so until I manage to find the mega expensive games in the wild I have NO problem just emulating it to enjoy it....I just can't justify spending 300, 400, 500$ on any game ever (minus arcade cabinets or certain hardware of course).....I would rather be patient and know one day I'll find it while out hunting for a steal and feel much more proud and accomplished that way instead of just throwing out ridiculous amounts of money to get a game. Just my opinion I'm sure many will disagree and give me shit for my views on emulation and even piracy..

I was in a one of my regular thrift stores and saw a copy of MUSHA in the back of the case so I quickly find an employee without even looking at the rest of the case. Turns out it was a 6 pak with the top label slightly torn and yellowed. No joke thanks to the lighting and bad angle it look exactly like the top label. Most expensive game I own is a complete Mega Man for the game gear. I should be really excited about it but I'm just not a Mega Man fan. When I saw it went for 500 for a complete copy my eyes bugged out. Other expensive titles I have are a boxed SNES Ogre Battle and a PS1 copy of Brigandine.

if people bought collectors games. they don't care about the gameplay. they'd play it on emulators and I believe this is on the virtual console

MUSHA was one of my absolute favorite Sega Genesis games of all times. Its music is really the star of the game. Only Final Fantasy games have better music.

Only worth it to the collector who really wants it. The value is only what people make it. I've played it. I would not pay $500 for it. I would not even pay $100.

I feel you, musha for my just isn't worth it, it's a great shooter, but since then there's been a hell ton of shooters released that are way better and way cheaper.

MUSHA is amazing, one of my favorite games of all time! Sadly its cost prohibitive for most. It did come out on the original Wii Virtua console

M.U.S.H.A is a spinoff from the Aleste series, what I understand are the MSX2 versions the best versions.

i'm french, (38 YO, i own a genesis cartridge of it) and as a european gamer, my pal version is 50hz, not 60hz so not only the game was slower , but also the music....and i looooooved this amazing musics! i mean i prefer the slower version, it sounds much too fast in ntsc versions!!! Anyway, golden age of the megadrive... a classic!

As much as i dig MUSHA (and the Aleste series as a whole), i've always preferred the Sega CD Robo Aleste game over it, and it doesn't cost nearly as much. Though, hearing your soundtrack story is really cool, and i can certainly see why it means as much to you as it does!

It always seems like emotional attachment is a big piece. I mean, its the reason i started collecting and the reason i do anything i do in the hobby. My heart belongs to the Sega CD, so my preference sways that way : )

In 90's we had so many shooters that I remember M.U.S.H.A. as just another ordinary game of the genre. It didn't catch my attention.

I mean it's a great game, but I would not pay $500 to $700 for MUSHA. It kills me to say that I'd much rather emulate it due to the astronomical price.

It is no less worthy of purchase than so many other games that demand ridiculous prices. If you love this genre, and you can find it for a decent price, it is absolutely worth it.

Nice shirt, Aliens! Question, how many t-shirts do you have? It seems you're always wearing a different one, and sometimes ones which match the theme of the video. My estimate is about five-hundred. Nothing wrong with that by the way, just curious. :D

There's only a handful of games I paid over $100 for: Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy III, and Shining Force III, and those were all complete and in great condition. I have a hard time paying more than $60 for any game, no matter how great, especially because of the existence of emulators.
