It's Music by Marco Ucellini, not the people. Marco Uccellini was a priest dedicated to music in the court of Duke Francisco I of Este de Modena and, later, of Duke Ranucio II of Farnesio in Parma.

@@AGONIA4 The name 'Bergamasca' is, I understand, a reference to a 'clumsy' peasant dance from Bergamot that is the basis of this wonderful tune. It this wonderful tune was considered a 'basic' dance, it shows how far we have fallen in popular culture.
