M-Vave Chocolate Tutorial Video | How to use M-Vave Chocolate Wireless MIDI Controller | Program A

Here's an in-depth demo and tutorial video on how to use the M-Vave Chocolate Wireless MIDI Controller and the M-Vave MS-1 Wireless MIDI Receiver. Watch the entire series to have the full grasp on this Wireless MIDI Controller System!!
IMPORTANT NOTE:
There's a connection sequence that must be observed for the midi system to work. Otherwise, even if the M-Vave Chocolate and MS-1 are paired, the slave device will still not respond. Also, please take note to use a USB Data Charging Cable. I provided below the items I used in this video.
CONNECTION / POWER UP SEQUENCE:
(Make sure that everything is not connected yet, then do the following in SEQUENCE.
1. Power on the Slave Device (Zoom MS-70 CDR) via 9v PSU.
2. Connect the Charger to, M-Vave MS-1 to, USB Cable to Slave Device.
3. Power On the M-Vave Chocolate

How can I increase the wireless range of the Chocolate Switch? 3-4 meters from the computer, the connection often drops. The same is true if I use a MidiB USB receiver - at this time I compared MidiA, the range is three times better. I think the problem is in the iron casing.

If the TC Helicon is Midi supported, this will work. However, please take note thst you need to identify the wiring diagram for the tc helicon. I have a separate video for a TRS Midi connection for M-Vave. I used it to a Line 6 M5.

Yes, you still need the MS-1 Wireless receiver for the system to work.. The chocolate also has a TRS Jack Out, you can also use it wired via 6.35mm trs to 5 pin midi cable. I have a separate video for that..

So does the USB controller not pass power through to the MS-70? I have an MS-60B that I use live, powered via USB. It would be perfect with this system. Keep my audio local to the rack, with remote control at my feet.

It can also pass power, however, the one Im using on this video is passing power, BUT, the midi messages dont integrate/respond to the controller.. I think, it depends on the USB Cable we will use. I have a USB extension with switch. And it all works properly even without the PSU..

Thanks for this video. Question: When you switch to a preset, what happens if you then press the on/off switch on the Zoom? Does it turn that specific pedal slot on and off? Or does it just jump to the next Zoom preset the way it normally does when you’re not using MIDI? Thanks.

The zoom will function to its normal operation.. The midi controller only controls the preset changes. If you're on Stomp Mode in Zoom cdr70, its foothswitch will function as on or off.. and if youre on Memory Mode, the footswitch will toggle the presets of zoom (if you set letters to it, abcd).

Midi controllers are general controllers since the 1980's. This midi controller is just a regular midi controllers, so happened that this is wireless. And like usual midi controllers, this needs to be midi mapped (this is the tricky part). So all you need to check is, if the mooer ge150 is midi protocol supported, if yes, then this will work. If not, then this will not work..thats the catch

Yes Sir. But it depends on the usb cable that you use. The usb cable that I used on this video can power up the zoom, BUT, the midi msgs. Dont respond at all. For some strange reason, the zoom must be powered on via psu. Then, thats the time ill connect the usb cable. I will upload a separate video with no psu needed. I bought a new usb cable with switch. It workd perfectly without the PSU.

Its not possible to midi control via USB port as of the moment. I already relied that to M-Vave.. We can Only use the 6.35mm trs out for wired connection to 5pin midi cables..

I havent tried it yet. The program I used on this video is Program Change A (Presets scroll up to 32 presets). The Program B is 128 Presets Scroll. I also want to try that, but I cant make it work yet. The protocol we need for the stomp mode individual effect left/right and On/Off is called CC or Control Change. But for that, we need to know the CC No. of the Zoom cdr70 for it to respond on that function.. We can also use Sysex Code, its an alphanumeric codes that we need to encode for the midi message. Again, we still need to know those codes. I'll post another video once I figured it out. Thanks!!

It depends on the pedal itself. Usually, it requires 9V and 500ma.

Shame the MS-1 receiver is not lower profile as then rather than using a block phone charger and separate wall wart power one could bang the wifi dongle straight into the 5v USB port on a Cioks PSU ... do you know of a lower profile receiver that would still work with the Chocolate?

Thanks for watching. I havent tried with Zoom G1Four. For the MG300, the advanced custom mode works. But for some strange reason, it doesnt work with the Program Change A (32 presets recall). For MG30, it works fine.. Esp. The Program Change A. We can easily recall 32 presets in MG30.. Hehe

I would like to believe so. Its just a matter of USB Type. What I used is a USB A to USB Mini.. For MG-30 it will be USB A to USB C. But again, I havent tried it personally because I dont have a Nux MG30. Theres an FB Group for Nux Mg-300, and someone posted that the M-Vave Chocolate works on his MG-300. If this checks out, it will also work with MG-30. Thanks.

My audio interface is presonus audiobox usb 96 that has a MIDI in and Out (DIN 5) and my efx plugin has a MIDI settings. Is there some way I can use this exact footswitch? Yes there Is! You need to use the 6.35mm TRS Midi Out of Tank-G. You need to configure in Cube Suite if its going to be a TRS Midi Out or and Expression Pedal Midi In.. Hope this helps. I have a video of this with Line 6 M5 using the wired connection. You need a 6.35mm TRS to 5-pin Midi Cable (Type A Wiring) for this feat. Hope this helps!

What do you mean sir na dalawa? Two efx at at time or if the M-Vave can slave either of the 2 efx? If 2 efx at a time, possible no Sir kasi tru bluetooth yung connection nya. So if connected na sya sa isang device, naka fixed na sya to control that device. If the Bigsky or the time factor has a 5pin Midi port, the chocolate can surely slave them.. Regards naman if USB port sya, wala pang complete list on devices na compatible sa Chocolate. As of now, yung mga confirmed na compatible ay Zoom CDR70, MS50G, G1XON, Valeton GP10.. May option din na wired yung midi controller. Need lang ng 5pin midi to 6.35mm TRS Jack. Thanks po.

Ah! Never mind...finally figured it out. Just had to leave the patch memories screen in the display of the MS-50G. Before I was always viewing the effects screen when pressing the buttons on the Chocolate. 😂

I havent tried that Sir. Wala kasii akong Ms50G. You may actually ditch your MS50G eh. Merong Zoom Effects Manager 2.0 (Unofficial). Pede mo ilagay yung effects from MS50G to CDR70 (vice versa). And other zoom pedals like zoom g1Xon etc. Tingin ko din na mako confuse yung connection..parang CP Bluetooth ito. 1 is to 1. Hope this helps..

This works as midi controller to any midi supported devices. In this video, the command is set to PC (Program Change). Meaning, in can scroll the Presets of the slace device. From preset 1 , 2 so on so forth . The M-Vave Chocolate also supports CC (Control Change) control change is the function to change a specific parameter in an effect. For example, to control on/off, to control tap tempo, or to control the tuner on or off.. Howeve, for the CC to work.. We need to know what CC Values the zoom will respond. And for that, I dont know the cc values yet. Hope this helps.

Hello. Sorry for the late reply. Have you updated the MS-1 and Chocolate in the cube suite app separately? You need to update or configure them separately in the cube Suite. Then, do this is order. 1. Power on MS50G via 9V 2. Connect the Charger, MS-1 Midi B, USB Cable To Zoom 3. Turn on the chocolate. You need to do this in sequence for the system to work. Ennoy

Yung sa sequence sir. Tama ka jan Sir. Pero yung ibang unit, nagana sila kahit yung MS-1 at charger lang. Yung sakin need pa talaga ng 9V psu.. Isasama ko sana yun sa video na to kaso, hahaba na masyado. So ine next content ko na lang. Hehe. Actually, basta mapower on mo yung cdr70 via 9v.. It doesnt matter kung chocolate or ms-1 ang mauna.. Basta ang catch, may power na yung cdr70 bago po ion yung wireless systems.. Naexperience ko din yung sa OTA (over the air) update. Ang ginagawa ko, on and off lang ulit. Wala ng ganon. Preset Toggle (Single Preset, 1 preset per switch 2. Preset Toggle (Dual Preset, 2 preset per switch, salitan na latching type) 3. Preset Toggle (Dual Preset, 2 preset per switch, pero momentary na) 4. Preset Toggle (Single Preset, Long Press to activate) 5. Preset Toggle (Dual Preset, 2 preset per switch, salitan na latching type. Ang catch lang sa no. 5, yung unang preset, maactivate lang sa short press, tas yung ka alternate nya na preset, long press to activate).. Bale pede ka magset ng function per switch. Ex. A = Function 2 B = function 4 C = Funtion 1 D = Funtion 4 ulit. Yung sa mga preset, ikaw mismo magseset non. Mejo tricky lang sya. Sa midi controller, yung no. 0 is preset 1 sa cdr70. Parang ganun Sir.

Yes Sir. Most likely. In my exp. Wala naman sya latency. Also, for 600 php, mura na yung MS-1 for a wireless midi receiver. 2 receiver na pate yun. Midi A (5pin) and Midi B (usb type). You can also connect yung midi a and b together.. Ex. Meron kang Midi Keyboard with 5pin midi ports, so don mo icoconnect yung midi A. Then, sa computer naman yung Midi B. So now, pede ka ng mag midi keys to computer wirelessly.. This is one application, marami pang pede as long as midi supported yung mga master at slave devices.

Automatic pair naman sya Sir. Make sure lang na walang ibang bluetooth na naka On. Pls. Take note din sa Power Up Sequence (pls. See description box). Then, yung pagsesetup din ng Program function ay one time lang din. After that, plug and play na lang talaga. Enjoy po.

Thanks for watching. What you are saying is a CC command. Or the Control Change.. The Zoom Ms-70 cdr doesn't have a MIDI CC.. Thats why the Chocolate can only do a PC command, or the Preset Change.. But, the chocolate can also do a CC command if the slave device has CC command protocol, like the Line 6 M5. PC is the changing of presets While CC is the control change of a specific parameter like, on/off, tap tempo, etc.

Also, you can configure the Chocolate to do a CC command on the Cube Suite App. Its a very useful app. In my video, I only used the Program Change A. We can also use Program Change B or the Preset Scroll from 1 to 128..
