They do this every evening here in Diamesha, China, across the bay from Hong Kong. I made it once around the square ( they dance around in a circle ) before, exhausted, I had to sit down. This is a retirement community and some of those guys and gals are in great shape, low impact.

I've lived in China for a number of years and used to see this type of dancing everywhere. People gather to have fun and it's also a good form of exercise. What's even funnier is that you could be walking into a large square and then you'd see so many different groups dancing to different tunes of music. But if you stood in certain areas then you could hear 3 or 4 tunes being played at once but yet, the dancers were only tuned to a single tune

The foot that stays on the floor is doing double time, it's this that's giving the shuffle effect. So just count the beats as a 1-2 3-4 5-6 7-8 instead of 1 2 3 4 to keep coordination.
