Thank you. This video was just as clear, concise and thorough as the first one. Very impressive work. You asked for suggestions, and I do have one. Do a complete receiver just like this. You can leave out the 'box', as everyone has their own ideas about what they want to or can do. But your descriptions and comments of everything are the best I've seen on the Internet. So a complete series on the 'guts' of an entire receiver would be welcome, at least by me. I don't know if you would find that fun, or of value. But I'd certainly watch it, and probably build the rig, just as soon as I finish the VFO aspect of it. I already have some of the parts in stock, and the rest are on order. What I like best about your videos is that I understand what's being done, and why, so that instead of merely following directions I actually understand what has been done and why, and I can then expand upon it. I learn. ++

Hi John, I am glad you hear you liked the video. Yes I have to agree with you, there isn't much on KZbin that goes into enough detail to help people build projects like this. I am chuffed to hear that you are building the VFO, let me know how you get on and I do my best to help if you run into any issues. Yes a receiver would make a perfect follow on project to the VFO. I really enjoy building radio gear too. Thank you for the suggestions. 73 John M0XFX

Hi Bob, I am glad you found this of interest. As I mentioned in the videos, I had a number of requests to make a VFO and I was hoping that it would be straight forward to understand. Im in the middle of part 3 and hope to have it upload by the weekend. Thank you for the feedback 73 John

Very nice work. I have a TTGO board so I wonder if the board’s built in OLED display is accessed off of i2c.

Hi Chris, It's a pleasure as always having you stop by the channel. I am glad to hear that you found the video interesting. I am trying to mix the channel content up a bit, but don't worry I have a stack of radios that need fixing and have a number of videos in the pipeline. Best Regards John.

Love to use this in my new homebrew radio. Do you have plans for a bigger lcd?
@M0XFXUK Жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, I think this would be perfect for home brew projects. Interesting question regarding the screen size, yes there are many screens that could be hooked up to the Nano and in different sizes. I will have a think about this and cover it in the next video. Thank you for your input. Best Regards John

how many pulses per revolution can be applied to the encoder
@M0XFXUK Жыл бұрын
Hi there, I am using a 100PPR quadrature encoder, so Arduino is count 200 pulses per revolution (I think that is right). I am not sure what the maximum speed the Arduino will read. Thank you for the question, I will check and look at this in the next video.

you source all the bits and develop a simple kit bundle for the purchaser to build in to their own project box and i'll be buying one.. just plug and play, bit of soldering and put in a suitable box of the buyers choice and i can see these selling.. especially with extra filter boards and such to make a nice high end RX.

Hi Mark, yes very good ideas. I was thinking of making up some PCB's for the VFO so people can put them together easily and it would make quite a neat job too. I agree good band pass filters would really make all the difference. Great food for thought, thanks for your input. Best Regards John

Well sign me up if you do a run of Yoyo SDR kits, i'm sure i have a few project boxes just begging to be used, is there a provision for an external signal meter, like the £15 Yaesu ones from China ?? @@M0XFXUK

Is there any code in your project that would preclude the use of the older Arduino IDE (1.8.19)?
@M0XFXUK11 ай бұрын
The sketch uses well established libraries so there shouldn't be a problem. I just compiled the sketch on version 1.8.19 and it seems fine. Are you having problems?
@carl-l3z11 ай бұрын
Not having problems, just curious as I've had problems in the past using different IDE revs from ones that other users have compiled their sketches under. Thank You!
@M0XFXUK11 ай бұрын
@@carl-l3z Hi Carl, no worries. The libraries used in the sketch are well established and date back a few years so you should be OK. If you run into any problems please let me know and I will do my best to help. Also this would be good for other people playing with the code so they know what to do if they run into the same problems. Thanks for the comment. best Regards John M0XFX.

this is good in the middle of coding and i get this error while trying to verify it any ideas please thank you 73. ----------> no macro name given in #define directive 32 | #define | ^ exit status 1 Compilation error: no macro name given in #define directive
@M0XFXUK4 ай бұрын
Hi, it's strange that it doesn't compile. I will have a look at the code this evening. Yes, the macro will need a name assigning to it. What version of the IDE are you using?
@M0XFXUK4 ай бұрын
OK, So I have had a look at the sketch from this page. It's compiling without any errors. Also, line 32 is being used for ez button prototyping. I'm not sure where you are going wrong. All I can suggest is to try downloading the sketch again and check the libraries are installed correctly. I'm using the Arduino IDE V 1.8.19 I hope this is of help, let me know how you get on.
