Hey I have a question for you to address please, I have the M1 carbine, I had miss feed problems, so I noticed during the operation that the front of the magazine would drop 1/8th of a inch, this would cause the bullet to drop and get caught on the bottom of the feed ramp, then I found a 1/4 moon lug cutout just below the feed ramp, this was what was causing the bullet to jam on the bottom of the feed ramp, I filled the lug with JB weld over night then let the mag cut its own groove in the JB Weld that fixed the Miss feeding problem and jams Sir Will you address this problem for all the veterans

I do not recommend JB weld on anything. The USGI components should be satisfactory, if not replace with USGI. I would check the magazine (recommend USGI only) spring first as there are many issues here. Let me know.

Sir I had a question for you. I'm currently working through helping a buddy rebarrel a WW2 era National Postal receiver with a period correct barrel and front sight post. We both had a few concerns and I wanted to see if you had any advice. #1. I've heard there's a risk of cracking or otherwise damaging the receiver when you go to remove the barrel. Are there ways to lessen or eliminate this risk? Are there certain brands of receivers that are more prone to this? #2. Are there some tricks one could use to keep from scratching the barrel when removing and replacing the front or rear sight? I had considered polishing the ID of the front sight collar, using grease, and freezing the barrel prior to install.

First I recommend the tools seen. They drastically reduce cracking. Since you are doing work on a Postal Meter they had an integral operating spring housing. The detachable ones were the ones that cracked. A second consideration is if the finish is original or US arsenal refinish. If so that is good. If a black crinkle type used by the Greeks I recommend not rebarrelling as that refinish process may have made the receiver brittle. Third if you are a go at this point for comfort you can add a perfect fitting drill bit to the hole for the operating spring as not to collapse it. For the front sight, clean it good and oil and follow the steps. It may get scratch and might not but the risk is inherent to the work, and it might be fine. Cooling the barrel might help too. Good luck.

Does anyone have any info on a Singer made m1 carbine

They did not make the M1 Carbine. They were subcontracted by Underwood-Elliott-Fisher to make receivers only. They were marked with a letter B below the serial number just above the recoil plate. The assigned serial number range was 2,63,000 - 2,655,000 or 25,000. Not all were produced by Underwood and the remaining were sold to Winchester, these are extremely rare. On Underwood produced Singer receivers will have the B surrounded by the circle for the bomb in the "flaming bomb" ordnance sketches.

I paid $1500.00 for mine and the sn# range was 2630000---2683000 and in total about 53,000 units made. Wood is a big factor in price as well. My sn# 26735## is in the range and is b marked over the flaming bomb.
