M1 Carbine Operation

I got my granddads National Postal Meter M1 Carbine and its the gem of my collection. I've loved the M1 Carbine ever since I was a young kid. Great little guns and so perfect in design.

So when I'm out of ammo I remove the spent mag and then put a loaded one back in? That really helped me, I was putting an empty one back in and wondering why it wasn't working, boy do I feel silly.

@doowopit okay, because i thought the m4 the m16 and ar15 where all the same!the m16 is select fire a.r and the m4 is a carbine version of the m16.and the ar15 is a lighter version of the m16 used by the navy seals, and it is semi auto only, like you have told me

@videosbythe5 The major difference you're going to find with a civilian AR-15 and an m16/M4 is that the M4 and M16 will have a full-auto bolt and an auto sear. There are different versions of the m16, the most current M16 being used is the M16a4 (semi-auto and 3 round burst) and the M4 (full-auto and semi-auto). M16's and M4's are AR-15 platform weapons.

I have seen several of these instructional videos. They always teach you to put the safety when changing magazines. That is like "Hurry up! you are taking rounds and you are empty! Move fast! engage that safety before doing anything else!"

@doowopit in the pas three months, i have learned that.Although the m1 carbine is a bit heavier than handgun, but you cant put a scope on it, it does not have the range, but the m2 carbine was made for continuos fire, and the m3 version as a sniper and the m4 is basically a chopped m16.and i heard that some m1 carbines were made for continuos fire.

@videosbythe5 .30 Carbine. There are revolvers and other rifles that take .30 Carbine, too.

@doowopit I know of that one, and you are probably right that it is one step from being considered an assault rifle. There was another variant as well known as the M3, which had a special mount for a night-vision scope

The correct answer is, "A magazine has a spring, a clip does not". A clip is simply a piece of metal, no different then a woman's hair clip. Not every magazine is required to be fed with a clip. The Garand is unique in this case. I reload AR mags and AK mags without a clip all the time. It's pretty simple unless your biased toward the Garand.

I just learned that the m1 carbine is the same thing as a bolt action rifle but the bolt is recoil driven backand driven forward by the spring and is pulled down by an angle

These little rifles straddle the border between full-blown intermediate calibre carbines (IE 7.62x39 and 5.56x45) and pistol calibre (IE 9mm, ,45 ACP, 7.62x25) carbines

@TheBelva85 You know, I changed my mind. Spent refers to using something up. ie spending money. So I don't see why it would be wrong to say a spent mag because I did spend all the ammunition in the mag hence making it spent. Although one could say a spent shell the expression could be applied an empty magazine. Seeing as how anyone should underatnd what a spent mag (including you) would mean I don't see why it would be wrong to say. It's not like clip vs. magazine, they are different things.

Clip/Mag/Magazine? If I corrected every customer who came in my shop wanting a clip for their rifle I would lose half my business. Cuntomers come in all the time asking for a 25 or 30rd clip for their Mini or AK. I know their not talking about stripper clips so why correct them, it would only make them go somewhere else next time. I guess som people just love correcting grammar. Have a nice day everyone.
