I have 3 Garands including a Mkll Mod 1 in 7.62x51 and all are equipped with the GarandGear ported gas plug. It works. My oldest has been in my possession for over 40 years. It had thousands of rounds of M2 Ball and M72 match ammo thru it during my national Match days. 20 years ago I installed the ported gas plug. I immediately noticed a much softer recoil impulse and smoother functioning of the action, it even seemed to tighten my groups a little. I basically eliminates the initial pressure spike on ignition the same way the gas plug on an M14 does, that damages the oprod. Since then that rifle is my Go To on the range and I feed it my 125-178gr reloads along with any commercial loadings that I can find on sale, punching 8" steel at 330 yards offhand is a breeze and the reaction on the firing line from the ringing often brings younger shooters questioning. The point is that after all these years all I've ever done is replace the oprod spring and I had the Op Rod gauged by Orien 7 on Long Island, NY and they found it to be still well within G'ovt Specs after all these years with minium wear. Here is the tech data and pressure testing results. www.garandgear.com/the-m1-garand-and-commercial-ammunition/

That’s amazing! I just happened to stumble upon it after I got my M1. It has been great to me as well. So happy I found it and am able to easily keep the old girl shooting without worrying about what ammo I’m shooting. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience!

Hey my friend glad you're M1 is still going strong. It's good to know you can get stuff on sale.. I have a lot of reloads now. I got myself a couple of pellet rifles. These rifles are not toys they pack a punch. I have a .22 break barrel ..22 caliber. Anne a Hatsan sniper 125 also break barrel .25 caliber. I put a Hammers 3-9x40 ao. It reaches out 100yards

I'm thinking seriously of getting into reloading. We'll see what happens. I can't believe how capable air guns have begun. My neighbor has a little .177 cal break barrel and it is amazing how hard that thing can hit! Things have definitely changed since my crosmun 760 pumpmaster lol!
