If this isn’t the first M1 Mac Mini video you’ve seen of mine then you’ve already heard me talk about why it’s one of my favorite devices to come out in 2020. It’s super compact, it’s very capable, it’s Wi-Fi 6 compatible, has plenty of I/O ports, looks super clean and is the cheapest way to get into the macOS ecosystem. But there is one mistake that I see a lot of people make which ends up costing them a ton of money.

When talking about increasing the storage you were saying it as if you were actually adding 512mb or 1 gig but in fact its adding 250 or 750 depending on the option you take so the cost per gb is even worse

Could one throw it in a suitcase (with some clothes wrapped around it) and check the bag at the airport and expect it to survive; or should one put it in a carry-on bag? Great introduction to the subject, I would have loved it if you had spoken to where the speed of an external Thunderbolt SSD would fall relative to the Samsung and the internal storage. Thank you, I think I got it pretty clear now. Just one small doubt about video editing. Do you think the braw from a Blackmagic 4K and Davinci Resolve will be easy to handle? I mean just the video cuts, color, light brighness corrections and maybe some text; no heavy effects or 10 min footage.

I bought the M1 mini as an iMac replacement as I am hoping to be working from two different places this year (much more portable). I bought the 16gb ram and largest HD. Within a few days, I had transfered over everything from the iMac and was able to do everything with Adobe apps, as well as run a Windows VM. Had no issue setting up with wireless keyboard and the new thunderbolt hubs give me everything I need in terms of connections.

Hi, I like your presentation. I am into Premier Pro, but am still using its PP5.0 version. Part of me, as a volunteer is using Zoom to communicate with a lot of people (16 onscreen up to 50 offscreen). I heard that Ecamm is only available from Apple products. I need to have guest speakers on screen together with a powerpoint presentation via Zoom. Do you have any experience with doing this? Do you think that M1 Mac Mini is a better way to go with Premier Pro plus Ecamm with Zoom? Does 8GB RAM is enough? Thanks for your time.

I use my computer with multiple user accounts. Is it possible and if so, is it advisable to put the separate user accounts on an external SSD while having the operating system on the internal drive. Or would you put each of the separate user accounts and associated Library folders on the internal drive, but move the documents, pictures, movies folders (I.e those requiring a lot of space) of each user to the external drive. Will having the individual User Accounts Library folders stored on the internal drive help overall performance?

I purchased the M1 Mini with 16g memory, 256 SSD and a 500g external SSD plus a Satechi hub for multiple ports on the front. Haven’t had any problems whatsoever...very happy with my purchase.

I've been running my older Mac mini 2012 off an external SSD as the primary boot volume and it runs just fine over the USB 3 port. So I would say spend the money on as much memory as you can afford, because, like the video says, that's all you'll ever get, then add external storage to your heart's content, because that's the easy part and storage only gets faster and cheaper.

Thanks for the kind words. There will always be a new device with better specs, so the question is "does this do what you need". Adobe CC does have beta versions of the M1 optimized PP for example (I have both versions installed). Even the non-optimized version runs fine. If what you currently have works for you - ask yourself if you need to spend the cash on the upgrade. If it's not working and this is a major improvement - do it!!! Hope that helps.
