Great video, what about the buffer settings? Latency is key for those of us that use it live.

@kyju7093 Жыл бұрын
That’s what I was wondering too. My 2018 intel is UNUSABLE when I record audio in ableton. The latency is literally a whole second even with delay compensation on. There’s no way for me to avoid the latency it’s SO bad 😭

@@kyju7093 by now i actually got the m1. 10 core 32 ram. It has blown me away. I have a very large set with lots of fx. Since i got the m1 i have expanded my set loading many more instances of omnisphere and other plug ins. And i now run it at a smaller buffer size with lower latency. I use a scarlett 4 pre. M1 or m2 is definitely a game changer no doubt. My previous laptop was an 2015 top spec 16 g MacBookpro.

Thanks for the video, I would like to have more precision, are you in 44.1 or 48khz ? what was the buffer memory at the time of your capture ? And the most important question, what about the noise after so many months, is it REALLY as quiet as everyone says? even after long sessions? I have a mb 16 from 2019 and I can't stand the noise anymore, it's really unbearable when you are a musician and you need to record yourself... Knowing that I record my guitar, my voice, my Rev2, Tape machine on the same session, I have very big project, The neural DSP guitar amp consumes a lot and make quickly go high cpu even if there is not necessarily crackling right away (in 128 sample) I am forced to switch to 512 to avoid completely crackling. So here are all the questions that I ask myself and that make me hesitate to switch to the new macbook, knowing that with the release of the M2 it's not a good idea at all I think to give in now better wait for the release of the 16 inch m2

M1 macs are built for apple software currently. Brave going with another DAW but it won't run as smooth as Logic that's for sure

Ableton Live runs way better on my M1 MBP than it does on my 2018 Intel Mac Mini, whether through Rosetta or native. Logic might be more optimised for Apple Silicon but that doesn’t mean that you’re going to get worse performance using another DAW than you would if it was on an Intel Mac.

I think about getting one for creating metal music with the usual mixing and mastering plugins including Superior Drummer, if you know that. Should be more than enough right?

Can you share your buffer settings, I wonder how this machine handles latency. It is very important for me to play instruments with the lowest latency possible maybe with a buffer size of 32 samples, can this computer handle this?

Trying to gauge of this is the right but right now. I’m interested to see how it would perform with Ableton, VCV Rack Pro, and Logic running parallel. VCV Rack can get pretty intensive when you build out a large Euro rack module.

@@DaveSchulze I think it's worth getting the 32gb. But you may not need it. If your getting from Apple, you could try the 16gb and if not enough, exchange for the 32. I think they give about 14 days.

Hey! Really enjoyed this video - I'm curious, on my 16" Intel MacBook the CPU meter on Ableton is way off the CPU that Activity Monitor reports Ableton is using (as in, Ableton displays it as being much less than it actually is), would you be able to comment how much CPU Ableton uses for this session according to Activity Monitor? Would be great to get the CPU for when tracks are duplicated too!

Great video! Can I ask how long does it take for an Ableton project like this to open up? I just got my M1 Max MBP which is absolutely amazing, I love the performance, the only thing is when I open up a session in Ableton, it could take almost a minute to do so. Similar project with lots of VSTs (Addictive drums, Keyscape, Serum, etc.) so that’s why I ask about your experience. Thanks!
@techstuff7132

It's the same on Windows PC's. The slow loading is an Ableton issue. IIRC it's because it's scanning all plugins and stuff before it opens and I believe there is a setting in Ableton somewhere or a file that needs to be edited that can bypass this.

What about ilok? This m1 max I just picked up is demanding me to use the ilok usb to run little alter boy... NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS.... I just spent $50. Last night on v14 versions of waves plugins that I can't even run on M1 max... this is down time.. and defeating the purpose of all this cash I just spent on this m1 max Mac Pro... upgrade my ass!
