I do not think I have ever made a hardware comparison based on how quick a web app refreshes a pic on a screen. That has absolutely bugged all to do with the systems since the user has the same bottle neck on wifi. Apart from that, what are the lane speeds etc. thermal ok one is hotter, but hotter is not always a bad thing. Nvme from Samsung for example performance increases with moderate heat compared to colder. Cores, sure nice but workload in real case different from benchmarks. I mean it is horses for courses. Take an intel nic and the typical onboard. Is there crc offloading, what about ram, is it ecc there are too many variables based on use case for this type of review.

Yes, you convinced me to pay $2950 in AUS Dollars on a 2022 MacBook Air. Thanks Max and Vadim 😅 -16 GB of Unified memory because 8GB can slow the system as the OS can fill it up quickly. -1TB because I first wanted the full ssd speed and second because I needed the extra storage anyway. I won’t be upgrading for at least 7 years so at least it makes up for the hefty price

I did the same your export test with 14" Macbook Pro M2 Pro 10-core CPU 16-core GPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD. Same color correction as you, with LUT, color wheels, color board (and some other effects). 5 min 4k (from Panasonic GH5), export in ProRes 422: 51 sec (25% faster than the result you got with M1 Pro). I repeated this several times (51 sec, 50, sec, 51 sec). So I have to deduce that either you have an M2 Pro version with some problems or the M2 Pro chip has been optimized with some updates in last months.

@@itsasadbunny the speakers are hardly noticeable difference tbh. and running 10 degrees cooler isnt ever really noticeable either unless on your lap, which no1 would really be running intensive programs on their lap anyway. the only actual important downside of the M2 imo is the SSD read/write speeds. For anyone in the market for a Macbook pro rn that hasn't had apple M silicon yet, the M2 is the best choice (even if you can get a refurbished M1 for $400 cheaper). With regards to the heat sinks, that's really strange shrinking the size down even with a higher-performance chip like the M2. Hello, I like how you do the comparison. That helps a lot. But I think If testing CPU & GPU together. the result of M2pro shouldn't be that bad. Also, for the writing & reading speed, it also depends on whether the disk for transferring is SSD or not. If not, it shouldn't have much difference comparing to M1pro & M2pro chip. especially the SSD disk is much more expensive than the regular one tho. But yea, Apple is obviously saving the cost to make more profit, and not surprised with this, since it's Tim Cook... and it's also very possible that they're even have quality difference with the same size of 512GB SSD on different levels of the new MacBook Pro. who knows? Based on the global situation, the inflation rate, USA interest rate, and so on, people in USA are lucky, they still get the same price, but not for people from other countries. and if their sales drop this year due to the price increased globally, won't be a surprise, either. and even in the future, and of course, overall, they shouldn't increase the price for other countries at all, especially when they're basically just upgrade the chip for M2Pro which probably not even much better than M1pro since they're both 5nm from TSMC even M2pro is the 2nd generation which mostly just help to improve the battery life. But it seems like Apple designs the M2Pro model to put GPU on the priority for workload. So, for people who only use it for normal tasks, shouldn’t have too much benefit from that. As for the 16GB memory that’s divided by 4GBx4pcs like on those articles say, I didn’t see you show it on the video, is it possible that you can also make a video of that to prove if it’s true ? As for the question, if people should buy the new MacBook Pro with M2pro chip or not. I think, the price, the speed are not the only main reasons for me tho. I’d also put the quality control into consideration. Especially with the global economic situation like I’d mentioned above, also the labour cost, the shipping cost are needed to be considered as well. I really doubt that Tim Cook would really put the quality first, and profit next. This is not the first time that Apple keep asking suppliers to lower the price. And TSMC is def going to increase the price, that’s for sure. And for the long-term, it’s very possible that they will lose a lot of profit for just manufacturing in USA. Like there’s a saying, There's no such thing as a free lunch. When Apple make suppliers to lower the price, of course, they eventually will agree cause they don’t wanna lose such a big client. But then, the quality will definitely be an issue. And I think, we already seen that for the products that are released in 2022. I personally would purchase at least 4units for the exact same models for comparison. For the M1pro MacBook Pro, I noticed that, for the keyboard, the F key, has an issue, that 3 of the models are more loose. Only one of them are tight. And you can hear the difference with the sound when you type. And for the coating, if you comparing with previous old models, they already change the way they do the coating. And you can see the details when you do the comparison in the sunlight, and indoor, then with the flashlight. I think it’s possible because of the environmental friendly reason. Same as the glasses nowadays. If you buy a metal like aluminum glasses, the frame will easily have Color-off issue if contacted with the skin or sweat. Cause they’re now only do 2 layers of coating instead of 4 layers like in the past. and since Apple’s other iPad and MacBook Air have coating scratch off issue like on those news, it’s possible due to the coating layers. Anyway, Tim Cook, once again, don’t forget where he’s coming from. Hahaha he def put profit for priority , that’s for sure. So, I suggest people who really wanna buy Apple’s products, not just only comparing the tech, but also better to put the quality for long-term into consideration as well. Thank you for reading my such long long comment. Have a nice day !

So glad I got the M1 Pro 14 inch on sale. New. Sealed packed. For the price of similarly spec-ed M2 Air. When the test started and we went to speakers first, I thought okay, M2 will have marginally better speakers but boom! I was confused if the left one was newer cause the M1 sounded clearly better. Then the most important part. The SSDs. I knew I was anyway gonna buy the base model, whether M1 or M2 so it doesn't matter if SSD speeds match on a 2TB config. It matters for me on the base model and specially with 16GB RAM, I am way better of for my work flow which is RAM heavy with these double speed SSDs on base model. And CPU and GPU differences were insignificant considering what I have is already extreme. Battery life, the difference I feel is even lower than what we got in the test as M1 macbook is older and battery health decreases even though not much but at least 2-3% in a year so _M1 Pro is still the _*_beast_*

Would be nice to see the benchmarks run on the M1 and M2 at the same clock speeds. See how much of an improvement to M2 actually is.

Needed to watch this… been looking at the M2’s since they dropped! This has just proven to me that there’s not a significant change since the M1… especially for what I’d be using it for. Just got to save my money now for a new laptop 🙏🏻 thank you for the extensive review guys!

So, if the base m2 pro is slightly faster than the 8-core m1 pro in video rendering and export, and the 8-core m1 pro has the same 10-core result (as demonstrated by your channel in another video) it means that the base m2 pro is slightly faster (but still faster) than the full version 10-core m1 pro. Apart from this, this speakers demonstration is useless at all. The difference between the two MacBook is the bass, much better in the latest model, but with a test like this you can't highlight it and it only seems that it sounds lower. You should also know that it is misleading

My first Mac was a Mac Plus with a 20 MB Hard Drive, 1 MB of RAM, an ImageWriter printer, plus Aldus PageMaker and Microsoft Works. It cost $10,000. Love to have one of these!

I snagged a 14” M1 a 4 or so months ago from Costco at a $350-ish discount and couldn’t be happier. I run Creative Suite primarily and it screams compared to my 2019 27” iMac with 40 GB of RAM.

I also noticed the huge difference in read/write speeds in the 512GB SSD compared to the M1. Question, does that difference carry over to the 1TB drives as well?
@kok324
@kok324 Жыл бұрын
No it doesn’t, if you opt to get the 1TB M2 Pro you’ll receive double the speeds of the 512GB model.

It's kind of hard to make a statement regarding to the speakers quality, there are many factors that may affect the sound, including the acoustics of the room. A more objective way to measuring it would be making a frequency test to see which frequencies get coloured and which ones get cut in comparison with the original track frequencies.

Thank you for the thorough review. I am looking for a MacBook Pro for my son and have been considering the M1 Pro and the M2 Pro He will a first year Graphics Design major. After watching your review I will be pursuing the M1 Pro. I cannot justify the significant price increase for the M2 Pro. I feel the M1 will be more than sufficient for him.

I've been looking at reviews on KZbin about different types of laptops for 2 months, there are some who give a good explanation about the inside of the laptop, but you are the best, only you do your story as light speed, I'm just a Dutchman: -) just can't make a choice between a Windows or Mac laptop yet 😊
