Totally underrated Channel. +Tasos Moschatos helped me to find a Failure in my M278. I´m living in Germany. Hope he gets soon the attencion he deserves.

Daily dose of science! Beautiful! In some cases it‘s better to put used parts back again, than to always change them. More people definitely need to know that!!! 100% agree with every single word that’s been told! As usually, just great👍👏🤪

Those all look well within the capabilities of the chain tensioner. Great call on the gears, the real vulnerability is internal chain wear from gear teeth issues.

Great video Tasos 👍 I think the polished chain link are slightly wider just an observation

Exactly, there is no actual “heavy/strong” resistance in just turning the accessories like the 4x cams for the chain. Compare to a motorcycle... big force! The wear comes on the “contactsurface” ...

Are you saying I have to choose between salt and worn chain guides!? 😭😂

I have never heard of a chain failure from breakage on 112, 113 or 156 , only guide wear and sometimes sprocket teeth

Thank you for the perspective, never would have thought it would be better to use a used chain in those specific engines you indicated, but you explained it brilliantly. Thank you!

Hello Tasos, what do you think is the better way to store a complete engine? To leave the engine complete, hang it on an engine stand and turn it over and over by hand to ensure oiling? Or disassemble the engine, remove cylinder heads, camshafts and store it well oiled?

at least Mercedes makes a good timing chain.

Really appreciate this video Tasos. I was planning guides + sprockets + chain change on my M275. But thanks to this video I am confident to just keep my original chain (and save some money).

I run my car every two weeks for a 30 minute drive even in winter and never had an issue since I purchased the car new in 2012. M278 is a great engine in my case. I am surprised at the low fuel consomption when I drive it gently since I get 7.6l/100km. Thanks once again for sharing all this knowledge.
