As it’s a Desktop, I’d advise spending more on memory as it’s very easy to hang an inexpensive SSD off the back to increase your storage.

My only concern after using the M2 Mac Mini is that my external monitor has response issues when connected via HDMI, and the Type-C port doesn’t seem to work with non-Apple monitors. Yes i regret buying it

I’ve been bored with Windows lately, and I don’t really game much and honestly need the basics, so I think this would be a great introduction to Mac for me. I’m not concerned with the Apple ecosystem because I am a Samsung Galaxy user, but Apple computers have always fascinated me since I was young. Looking forward to getting the entry level Mac mini soon.

i really hate windows and i want to switch to mac. microsoft are ruining it even more every single update. just the small things that leave you wondering "WHY??". for example they have removed the ability to get rid of the standard volume icon in the taskbar (i prefer using eartrumpet). i don't see the benefit in removing features. the new start menu is awful, buggy, and ad-ridden. the ui is clunky and inconsistent; an example being the 2 entirely different mouse setting pages, each allowing you to change the sensitivity yet they aren't related at all and the settings are independent. it comes with a bunch of bloat unless you know how to get a clean install, and they practically force you to use a microsoft account. the only thing stopping me from switching is apple's ridiculous ram and storage upgrade prices. anyway sorry for this random vent i just suddenly had the idea of buying the next mac mini whenever it comes out and just switching to it. i've had mac products in the past and loved them but there is just no way i can work around the massive voice in my head saying "£800 FOR 2TB OF STORAGE??? WTF"

8gb of memory might be a concern for some people who need to do heavy video editing while having a bunch of other programs openat the same time. BUT for an average user (10 open tabs), word, Canva or chatgpt open at the same time, the computer runs smoothly! It even does some serious gaming (for example i play Shogun 2 total war at high settings with huge unit size at around 40-60 fps via steam)! Yes, sometimes you might see disk swapping but that happens when you have 10 programs open simultaneously, and besides the memory usage pressure, you don't see any serious decline in performance! Well done apple!

I had my M1 Mac mini with 16GB RAM and 256 GB base storage for future-proofing when it was released, and it was worth it. It still performs well for my daily needs and occasional photo and video post-processing. I don't see it slowing down anytime soon.

thx for this review, I own the M1 8g mac mini and after three years I can say i'll buy another computer with more ram! this is definitevly the worst thing Apple has done to give us the minimum RAM we can't upgrade since browsers are taking it all! I love the Mac mini cos it has HDMI while I'm a MAC user for years, I just plug my TV screens that are wider than the Apple displays and they cost anything since I own them for years! I bought an external hub the size of the MAC mini in which I have an external HD to get more space for content. I don't know really the difference between M1 and M2 and I'll probalby get another M3 or 4 device just with more RAM. I think Apple made a great device we all waited for years to get rid of Intel Macs. I'd love to get a Mac Studio for video editing and such as my Intel Imac is very noisy but prices are still high.I agree with you, it's enough for normal task such as browsing the net and watch youtube videos but it needs more RAM!

So the question for what I am here fore still unanswered…. Wtf am I suppose to do with a mac mini? Storage is out of the question, player for apple music also no since it lacks optical, maybe roon server but again why even use that, for generic use you got a huge selection of mini pc that with linux on windows can du so much more, including hi speed storage for media playback… sure it looks nice as a toy but I really can’t find anything to use it for.

@kurt1200320027 күн бұрын
@@jswift4240 that is totally fine. Problem with apple is that their use case is extremely narrow. I got an M2 iPad pro to take notes. Very good tot take notes and learn for exams, but nearly useless for everything else, and that includes email and web browsing. For some god knows what reason these incompetents fucked up web browsing, and that is what I core issue with apple: you got them for a very specific task that can do very well, but they can't do shit beside that. Get this: there is no apple product that can properly run Apple Music, and Apple Music app is worse on iOS then it is on Android. This is how bad Apple are for generic use; they can't even run their first party service properly.

I have a 16GB RAM version of this. I gave my custom build to my brother because I quit gaming already. I used his name for education discount lol. Anyway, I like it. I play and record guitar and bass. I found this mac more stable for my audio interface than Windows. I encounter like one or two blue screen on Windows with the audio interface but in Mac it just works. Saves electricity too. My bill dropped when I started using this. Then I bought a Dell Thunderbolt 4 dock. You should've gotten RAM though. I have a 4TB SSD in an enclosure.

I don't know about the 512GB ssd but the 256gb speed 1750 vs M1 256gb 2520 speed. So when people say the drive on the M2 is slower.. they are right. Yet that being said seems quicker for sure.
