Picked up a black 2018 F80 comp just this week. 47000kms on the clock, completely stock. I could not be happier with show it drives. It just has a level of rawness to it and I think I’ll be hanging on to this car for a long long time.

Man I’m excited either way for you. Have loved the Sti build, enjoyed the F80 and here for any Porsche you end up with.

best mod that i ever did to my manual f80 comp was the clutchmasters twin-disk fx-250. The pedal is more stiff and direct and the clutch and flywheel package is 18lbs lighter making it so much more fun, especially on downshifts. So much better

I was very close to pulling the trigger on a 991.2 GT3 back when I was in the market, it was such a joy to drive and the technology makes it easier to live with day to day, At the last minute I found a beautiful, low mileage 997.2 GT3. Ultimately I prefer the analog 997 experience over the 991 but you really can’t go wrong with either in my opinion. Hope you get one sooner rather than later, once you get in one it’s almost impossible to drive anything else. They’re such phenomenal machines

As I get older, I feel that buying newer cars and modifying them is such a waste of money. It is fun, however, but it can get out of hand. Unfortunately, Porsche is so prohibitively expensive but out of the box the car is truly a great car. One thing you forgot to mention, is maintenance on a Porsche extremely expensive as well.
@Autofreakgarage3 ай бұрын
Waste of money is subjective as modifying any car for me is part of the ownership. I never leave anything alone as I have to get it to where I want to fully enjoy. Been doing this since I was a kid and probably won't ever stop. Some cars it takes a lot, some take less. All depends on the car and starting point. Maintenance is fairly reasonable on P cars. Just like the f80, there isn't any crazy maintenance intervals or anything that a competent weekend "mechanic" such as myself can't handle.

I stopped spending on modding cars when I hit 30. After getting older in mid 40s and making more money and having more life goals out of the way… I’ve picked up modding again the last few years. I understand the financial aspect and priorities but I had to make room for what I love.

I have an F82 M4 CS and it is the most Porsche like experience of all the F8X cars and I have owned an F80 base and F80 competition. With less sound deadening the CS you hear everything.

I own a 2018 M4 zcp that I track regularly. I'm debating between upgrading to full nitron or MCS coilovers and Apex wheels and tires or trading for a ZL1 1LE or GT350R. Neither of which would need substantial modification.

I have a 991.2 GT3 Touring. I watched your previous videos and the GT3 is the car you want. The other Porsches that you mentioned are excellent ( 991.2 GTS & 981 GT4 ), but they are not from the Motorsport department of Porsche. The engine for the GT4 was not devoloped by Weissach. It a 991.1 Carrera S engine that was modified for the GT4. The manual 991.2 GTS is a twin turbo with a 7 speed transmission. It’s definitely a great 911 but the GT3 transmission is better and the engine in the GTS is much quieter.I rented a 992 Carrera for a week and it was so comfortable and capable. I told my friends it was like a Cadillac compared to the GT3.

Weird comment, but are you driving on Route 9 ? Old bridge area? Looks awfully familiar. Love the F80 content as I have one, but GT3 is goals!

Well, you're comparing a sports sedan that can carry a family of 4 comfortably to a street legal race car. If your intent is to have a fun car then I'm pretty sure your decision is set. Either way, both cars are a beast and wish you luck in finding your 991.2.

Coupe and sedans are two different handling experiences. Coupe is better in my opinion.
@Autofreakgarage3 ай бұрын
This is expressed in the video as I understand the two cars I am "comparing". I always prefer a sports sedan as the practicality aspect of it always wins in my book. But the garage spot that the m3 fills is for a weekend/fun car, so the practicality aspect isn't as important as it used to once be for me. But for what it's worth, I still prefer the f80 over the f82.
