My E36 328is came on eBay coilovers and that needed to change ASAP. So today we're installing my new BC coilovers and taking it for a drive to see how she feels! Now we're ready for the BBS wheels!

those are JOM coilovers. made in germany. pretty decent for what they are priced at. my JOMs are fully adjustable shock and spring including the fronts. semi comfortable.

Good information. On my e34 the rear shock bottom bolt should be torqued after the car is on the ground. Don’t know if this applies to your car. Cheers, G
@m3nameisjosh4642 жыл бұрын
Yes it does apply, thanks for the reminder. That bolt will be out a few times once i adjust ride height for new wheels in the following week, won’t be driving it till then.

Love the content man. I had an E36 M3 and now an E46 M3, honestly miss the feel of the E36 but haven't really gotten to know the new car too well yet. If you ever get around to wanting to sell this one please please let me know, I actually love how its spec'd out from the vaders to the suspension/wheels! Keep the videos coming 👌

Hey man, been following you since late 2020, and you’ve really inspired me to get an older bmw. How do you find these cars without them being absolutely beat into the ground?

Appreciate the support man! But lots of patience and lots of time spent on the marketplace searching

Do you run broadway super lows or just the normal coilovers on your yellow e36?

Worth it? Contemplating making the bc move from my tired old stock set up. Been on the fence but cant pass up the bc price point. Again nice video.
@m3nameisjosh4642 жыл бұрын
Id say its worth it. Good coils will ride far better than tired stock suspension

100% Best modification by far imo you get looks and handling

Have you considered ECS's coilover? Mere $400 cheaper, staff isn't able to disclose who the manufacturer is but both reps i spoke with stated that the maker is "very" reputable.

I actually didn't know they offered coilovers, interesting

So when I was ur age coilovers were NEW and it didn't matter what u got the ride was ROUGH and really only used for race car applications. Is it a "jarring" ride compared to stock? I mean we don't have "smooth" riding cars,which made me not wanna go away from stock

Always love hearing the perspectives from people who have been in the game longer than I have!
@BMWiE-lz3nu2 жыл бұрын
I hope u didn't take that like I was like schoolin u,that wasn't my intention. I was just saying I remember when adjustable coilover were new to the obtainable market,would give a car DRAMATICALLY better handling but came at the cost of any type of comfortable ride. Coupled with the cost of "new technology,"coilovers were only generally used on racecars...but that was 15-20 year ago. What I was more asking was how it REALLY affects the quality of the ride? Esp since these cars are kinda a rough ride to begin with? I never like the amount of gap in my front,but the amount I would want to drop it is less than any spring kit provides. It's my understanding one of the biggest benifits of coilover is how customizable the height,but would one be unhappy with the ride quality in a enthusiast + build? U think they have come far enough with them?
@m3nameisjosh4642 жыл бұрын
@@BMWiE-lz3nu I didn’t take it that way at all! Haha. I genuinely meant that. I like to hear things like that, definitely cool to hear from someone who’s experienced the technology since new. I genuinely think a proper coil with a proper rate can ride just as good as a stock setup. But from my experience it will always be a little less comfortable, i dont mind, but some do. For me, i want coilovers for the adjustable ride height, not the comfort.
@BMWiE-lz3nu2 жыл бұрын
@@m3nameisjosh464 what do u mean by "rate" and in the video I think u said "preload" or something like that? Also on the rear,are the springs there as more of a last resort before completely bottoming out? Leaving the bulk of the load primarily on the coilovers themselves?or does that collar completely make up for the difference in spring size?
@m3nameisjosh4642 жыл бұрын
@@BMWiE-lz3nu spring rate is the stiffness of the spring, which correlates to how stiff they are. Softer spring rate compresses easier making ride softer. And preload is how much you compress the spring without anyload, so basically how much its loaded before any weight is on it. System still works exactly the same as stock car, spring and shock take all the force, the adjuster is essentially just an extension of the spring seat
