Not interested in the various colors, want more memory/storage and upgraded silicon to use for my photography so nice to see upgrades - just want them in 27" iMac! Have a studio display to go with my MacBook pro but I seem to prefer the big iMac!

Worth noting is that iMac 24" got a 218 PPI display. Good to know if you wanna add an external display with the same 218 PPI. You got these options: Apple 6K 32" Apple 5K 27" Samsung ViewFinity S9, 5K 27" Three displays to choose. Four if you can find that LG 5K 27" (made for Mac).

It’s crazy how Apple ignored updating the most popular design computer of all time. As an architect I know so many iMac users that have been waiting for a powerful and larger screen iMac. If they only release a bumped 24” it’s ridiculous!

I wouldn't mind that option, but actually I've grown attached to the 24" size, now I do less side by side and run full windows and just use multiple desktops with hand gestures so you can swap fast or drag files right between desktops, it's like having a large monitor. I came from 2 monitor set up, multiple desktops changed everything for my workflow, I have 6 desktops and I find I focus better. But that's just one persons work flow, but I never thought I would like it.

Always found that 27-28” for a display was kind of a sweet spot that is both not such an extensive stretch and allows for a comfortable side-by-side view of 2 pages, documents or websites. I’m not into gaming so I don’t need a more immersive experience. This does make me wonder who, at Apple, was responsible for considerably downsizing the iMac’s display. I believe it was a purely financial decision (i.e. to cut production costs and increase margins) but also a decision to make the iMac more appealing to entry level home users and a lot less attractive to existing iMac owners with more professional needs (developers, graphics designers, videographers). The latter have been forced to upgrade to the more capable Mac Studio and Apple Studio display. So yeah, I’d argue that Tim Cook has been trying very hard to squeeze more buck out of Apple users, and charging $200 for an 8GB RAM upgrade isn’t something Steve Jobs would have done IMHO.

Thanks for the video, although I'd rather have a desktop mac m4 ultra, because nowadays I do most my stuff on the iphone, and I trade in my ipad mini with the ipad 11 m4 and I learned how to replace my laptop almost entirely, so now I would need just a very powerful mac when I'm home and I'm perfect.

Definitely, the same resolution as in ProDisplay XDR, but it does not have to be a mini led display not even oled, just a 32 inch 6K thing with a M4 Max with 48 core GPU and 64GB of RAM.

Hello Matt, I am still some what disappointed that the Apple Studio has not been updated yet. I have my two very very old I3 IMac 27" and very old 5K i7 27" IMac and was so hoping to upgrade this year. But I do not think its worth waiting for the M4 IMac I will just save up a bit more to see if the Apple Studio gets the M4 Max or just get the M2.

I was interested in an M4 mac, but the specs aren't as good as macbook pros so i was waiting for an M4 macbook pro 16" but that might not happen this year? My 2008 macbook pro and ipad 2008 are dying, so they will need replaced asap-- whether with imac or macboo pro, not sure which one.

I think I'll stick with my, full spec M3 iMac, for now. You know what would be AWESOME?!? - Now that Apple are using the 2x OLED tech, in their "Pro" devices. What if they used the 32' Pro Display XDR screens they were shipping with the Mac Pro, and turned that into the new M4 iMac, plus upgraded peripherals (USB-C), and a "Pro" model in black, with a comparable configuration to the current line of M3 Pro/Max MacBooks. (Save the Ultra chip for the Mac Studio, and Mac Pro) A 32' Pro Display XDR M4 iMac, configurable up to 32gb Uni-Mem., I'd upgrade for that! (Although 24gb is way more than most of us need.) As for design changes, aside from an Apple logo on the chin, I wouldn't change a thing.

What gives me heartburn is that there is no chip upgrades like a pro or max. With the increased size of the chassis and fans, there is less of a problem with overheating compared to a MacBook so it would make the iMac an option I would consider. As it stands, I will only consider a studio even though it forces me to buy a separate screen. Why did Apple decide against continuing to produce powerful large screen iMacs?

Unlikely there will be another iMac Pro.The one that released in 2017 was just a stop gap whilst they was still developing the 2019 Mac Pro to replace the previous Trash Can model.Historically,the iMac has never been aimed at Pro users.

Zero reason yet again to upgrade from the mid tier m1 8gb/8core cpu/gpu 256gb ssd. I use mine as a studio/work computer, and my 16”m1 pro as my editor/personal computer. The m1s were made too good, the resale market is not good for the m series compared to previous Intel gens, so may as well get $$$ worth out of them. 🎉

I’m not keen on the display size, unadjustable stand and base amount of RAM. I think running Apple Intelligence or LLMs locally requires a minimum of 16GB of RAM, but I guess I’ll have to wait and see what the experts say. I’ve really gotten use to my 27” iMac display, so downsizing to 23.5” is a dramatic downgrade for me. So disappointed that Apple did this. Finally, it’s also a bit sad if the M4 iMac won’t have a 10GB Ethernet port option.
