Dude, what a complete video from top to bottom, I had to stop at 6 mins to type this because what a breath of fresh air from having watched at least a hundred videos on the iPad for the past couple weeks, EVERYONE fills their video with at least 3-4 mins of filler BS (and that's before sponsorship talk). You gained a new sub.

1:37 they have the excact same media engine, so even having 10 more CPU Cores shouldnt make any difference (Dont know why the 8GB Model was faster though). What you could also test would be unsupported Video Files where the CPU does the rendering, not the media engine. 10 bit 422 footage for example. I bet the 16gb model would be faster here

This is how you do it! While a lot of the tech reviewers have basically made the same video on the two (13" ALWAYS BETTER, M4 GO VROOM, BUT IPAD OS SO WEAK, DISPLAY BEAUTIFUL), you actually evaluated things like the true benefits of the textured glass, differences in sound quality, and practical examples of performance difference with the extra core. And it felt like a more even handed review and less a regurgitation of a spec sheet or Apple worship (I say as a fan of Apple products.)

1:41 perhaps more cores = quicker to heat up which leads to throttling sooner which ultimately leads to slower performance? just speculation but still hugely ironic regardless because the higher spec'd ipad takes longer to export

Great video. I have the last iPad Pro (M2) and I do all my editing on it. I use daVinci Resolve and I feel that it lacks the extra RAM. Otherwise is a beast of a machine only held back by iPadOs
@_TeddyCore3 ай бұрын
I got the 1 TB 13 inch model, simply because the 16 gigs of RAM allows me to use more layers in high res Procreate documents. That’s one use case where the extra memory directly impacts usability. Procreate will refuse to even open some of my larger projects on any iPad with less than 16 gigs of ram.
@buzzyy_bee18973 ай бұрын
I read somewhere on the Procreate forums that app developers are limited to about 5gb of memory, meaning that going from 8gb of ram to 16gb wouldn't make a difference, but I might be wrong as I'm pretty sure that post was pretty old
@_TeddyCore3 ай бұрын
@@buzzyy_bee1897 That changed some years ago. Procreate is able to allocate more RAM to its sandbox depending on the physical memory on the system. There was an official blog post about it from Savage Interactive around the time the M1 iPads were released. But I’ve also tested this, as I’ve airdropped some larger files to other iPads, including M4 ones, that simply won’t open on 8 gigs of RAM.
@_TeddyCore3 ай бұрын
@@buzzyy_bee1897This changed around the time the M1 iPads were first released. Procreate limits the amounts of layers depending on the total amount of physical RAM in the system. I know this because I’ve tried to open several of my larger documents on iPads with 8 or less gigs of ram, and Procreate throws up an error message and refuses to open them. It is also possible to verify if you open a canvas of the same resolution on both an iPad with 8 and 16 gigs of RAM respectively and check the available amount of layers. The number will be different depending on available memory.

Even tho I’m an artist, I chose the 11” 1 TB with regular glass. As nice as the 13” screen size is, i just think a tablet was meant to be held, and the 11” is just so much more holdable. The 13” size is more of a desktop only device. Glare was never really an issue with me, and I prefer the vibrant colors & sharpness of the regular glass OLED. The nano screen does cut down on glare, but colors aren’t as sharp & vibrant to my eyes. And as an artist, I rather have the colors pop. I also don’t like the special cleaning instructions of the nano texture. It makes me nervous. I heard the nano texture scratches more easily. Both screens are nice tho.

Although it doesn’t seems to be needed, more RAM and extra storage may be mandatory if Apple Intelligence will require in the near future.

OK, so the variant you wanna go for whether you go for 12 or 11 is the 512 or the one terabyte so you get an Nan Chip if you go above 512 or at 512 if you are at 256 one chip chip is what makes a difference Other than that that’s it the eight gigs, and the 16 years are very close to the same was crazy as it’s not really 8 it’s 12 someone did a teardown and all the 12 models really actually had 12 gigs ram but the computer only sees 8 I hope they use it for that Siri.

The iPhones hotspot since the 12 is just as quick as the cellular connection itself. It’s my home wifi and there’s no issues. Easily delivers 300mbit. Just overheating can become an issue.

I own the 13" 1 terrabyte and love it. I need the extra screen real estate for art and Adobe products. I don't use nano. The fact that' it's fully capable to advance into the AI world is another plus. Be ready for larger files, more resolution, and higher videos resulting in the need for these terabytes. So think future AI & Terybytes❤

I have the 1TB version too, but what kind of Adobe software do you use on your iPad? In my experience, only people who want to LOOK like they do creative work use Adobe tools on iPad. Besides Acrobat, pretty much all of the apps are reduced beyond being unusable. Photoshop is missing key features, Fresco is like a cheap version of Procreate and Premiere isn‘t even there. Also, every M-Series Chip is already more than powerful enough to run many machine learning applications. And what do you mean by “higher videos”? A better resolution? I gotta disappoint you, a one terabyte SSD can roughly fit an hour of ProRes422 in 4K, so do it on an external drive or don’t. You, my guy, are the definition of an iPad kid.

I had an 10.5-inch until 2021 when I got a 13 (well, 12.9) because specifically it was bigger. But I got a 14 inch MacBook Pro. Since then I’ve realised that I do “laptop” tasks on the MacBook and the large ipad was nearly as big, and pretty heavy too! And then just a few days ago, I got an 11-inch iPad Pro (M4). Now, it can do “iPad” things like being small and light. I might sometimes miss the larger screen, but most of the time I don’t notice. What I do notice is that I can take it with me more often. Definitely a wise decision. My ipad pro 12.9 inch was “only” 256GB and was enough for me (I don’t really do video editing). So I bought the 256GB version of the iPad Pro and used the money I saved to get the keyboard and pen. I figured that the extra processor would only be of use in limited circumstances that won’t affect me, and the extra RAM also would be something I probably wouldn’t notice.
