FOR EVERYONE ASKING ABOUT A PART TWO: This might seem cheesy or overblown for something as innocuous as an audio roleplay on KZbin, but this audio was a way for me to express a certain emotional headspace in which I frequently find myself, especially during (though not limited to) January. If I was able to successfully convey those emotions in a way that resonated with you personally - if you've ever needed to force yourself, against every fiber of your being, to "come back down" - then congratulations: you were my target audience. The POV-style visuals weren't just something I did for fun: *you are the Pilot*. This was for you. I can't write what comes next for you, any more than I can pull you back to solid ground. All I can do is tell you that when things get hairy out there, when it's cold and it's dark and you're tired and you're alone and the world seems a million miles away: I want you to come back. I want to know what happens in part two, too. - Major Tom 💜

Ugh this scratches such an itch for me. Stuff like Space Oddity and Gravity combine fear of inevitability and all the beauty/horror that comes with space in a way that's so, I don't know, universal? Everyone can understand and relate to it in a general sense one way or another. Tbf I cried both the first time I heard Space Oddity and the first time I watched Gravity, so maybe I'm just emotionally predisposed to being attached to this kinda thing. 😂

Can you hear me, Major Tom? My head hurts, my chest hurts, I just want it to stop. The stars look so quiet and peaceful out here. The rest is just vast and empty. Even through the silence, I can hear it calling to me. I'm still breathing, for now. The low oxygen is making it hard to see Major, I'm sorry. Emergency oxygen tank must have been damaged in the collision. I can't tell if the black spots are just outside anymore. But my trajectory is still set for Earth. I've ran my fingers over the parachute release sequence a few times, I should be able to do it even if my vision completely goes out at that point. I can't recall how long I've held my arm on the thruster for, all I know is that it aches. ...I'm scared Major. I don't think I've ever been this scared before in my entire life. But... for once, I think that feels a little better than just feeling numb. I want to come home. I... want to see a blue sky again. But it feels so distant from here. Without the flickering navigation screen I can't even tell Earth apart from the countless stars. If I never make it back, just know that I tried. By god, I promise that I tried. I'm on my way.
