As much as I do acknowledge pressing the bolt release as part of the standard reload for M4A1, I love seeing reload animations with pulling the charging handle instead of pressing the bolt release.

Wow the Project Reality 2 one at 2:33 is very realistic - See bolt open after last round - Put away spent mag - Take out fresh mag - Brief visual check of fresh mag - Insertion - Tap - Bolt release - Check bolt to see if bullet chambered correctly - Disengage safety Only thing is that you can't hear the safety being engaged at the start of the reload. And of course a tactical/speed reload would be better, but still amazing attention to detail.

The only point of an AR-15 carbine is that it has a barrel length no longer than the M16. The max length it can get should be 16 inches.

Normally I'd have to say MW2019 still holds the crown, but I think Battlefield 3 holds the trophy here. That sound of sending the bolt home with that faint "ring" from the tolerances being broken in is something I'll never forget after having my same service weapon for years.

There are the ones that are impactful and take reasonable amount of time, and then there are the ones that waste your time with pointless processes like "let me take a good hard look at the chamber instead of smacking that bolt catch immediately" or "let me take a look at my magazine for 2 seconds before loading it in"

The M4/M16 is one of those weapons where it's hard to mess up the reload. Step one: remove old magazine. Step two: insert new magazine. If the old magazine was empty: press the button on the left side of the gun or pull back and release the charging handle located just below the rear sight.

Looks like the M4 has to be the most famous gun of all FPS games, and I think it certainly beats out the other 2 contenders being the AK and MP5, just by a few more game appearances. For instance, games like The Last Of Us, Battle LA, Far Cry 1, and Terminator Salvation only feature the M4 but not the AK and MP5. In the end, the M4 is the true FPS champion gun.
