What a great set of movies. I loved them when I was a kid and I love them now. Ma has the patience of a saint and the strength of an ox. Pa was a funny, simple, conniving old coot. Altogether, great entertainment.

Always loved and associated with the kettles especially Marjorie main , she is so much like our family my nan and pop had 11kids from the early great depression thru to ww11 they had kids etc and the farm was like a circus Christmas days , baptisms, any special occasions and weddings wow folks would come in from other farms and it was a small army with kids everywhere and the reception thier would be a hoot and holler square dance till the early hours , and I live in Australia growing up in the sixties and I remember some young u.s. marines were invited for Christmas real country boys from Tennessee and I remember one could play the fiddle real well and they were really at home and I can even remember them boys crowding into my nans lounge room watching ma and pa kettle on our black and white t.v. many memories very fond memories we were not rich but we always had feed and a roof over our head and a warm bed it was so much like the kettles farm , cheers from Australia

Marjorie Main also starred in one of many Abbott and Costello 90 minute movies, titled: "The Wistful Widow of Wagon Gap," portraying Mrs. Main as the "Widow Hawkins," after Costello accidentally shot her husband, Mr. Fred Hawkins.

MARJORIE MAIN IS GREAT! Not to leave out her co-star but MARJORIE MAIN is one of my favorite actresses. She goes waaay back in the industry, in many shorts, in many WC FIELDS and the THREE STOOGES. She goes about as far back as WALTER BRENNAN, whose earliest film I saw was from the 1920s. RIP MARJORIE MAIN 🙏🙏🏽🙏🏼

A lot of the younger folks might not realize this but the Kettles were based on real people ( By the actual name " Kettle " ) see the Book " the egg and I " by Betty MacDonald circa 1949 . It's a bio based on her experience working on an egg farm in the Puget sound .
