Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh is expected to meet Governor Lakshman Acharya for the second time in 24 hours, following a high-level meeting with ruling party MLAs. The BJP-led government, which includes MLAs from the Naga People's Front, National People's Party, and Janata Dal (United), held discussions involving 24 legislators, including six cabinet ministers. After the meeting, CM Singh reportedly urged the Governor for urgent Central government intervention.
Meanwhile, security operations have intensified in the wake of escalating violence. Police teams and security forces conducted combing operations in the hill ranges, destroying bunkers in Mualsang and Laika Mualsau villages. In Bishnupur District, a police team came under fire from suspected Kuki militants, but successfully repelled the attack. Military helicopters and anti-drone systems have been deployed for aerial patrolling.
Senior police officers, including IGP and DIGP, are on-site managing countermeasures, and high-level security meetings are being conducted to address the situation. On Saturday, at least five people were killed in clashes between two armed groups in Jiribam district. Kuki militants also launched long-range rockets in Bishnupur, killing one civilian and injuring six others. Authorities remain on high alert, prepared to handle any contingencies.
